(side note: Stash is making me put a Mature Warning on this too....not just my fractals!)(BUT...I am editing it out and re-posting.....)
Tried a different approach....more of a "sketch" than a painting.....
I can't find where I saved my reference photo.....so if you recognize this....let me know and I will put the proper credit in this description....

Its a good base to start with if you decide to finish it or make something more of it. As it is now, the flow of the dress is pretty decent, but could use more to take advantage of it.

Well, you could work a bit more on the hair. The dress and hair are the two key features of this picture that draw the attention, much more so than the character. Try working on individual strands of hair for a more natural look rather than implying them with color. This means actually going in and more or less layering the hair (the way you would when getting your hair cut), or drawing it in groups and sections so that the hair seems to flow more freely and is not as bunched up. This would require alot of work though, and because you said this was just a sketch, I didn't want to say anything that might burden you with the idea that you should have tried harder or spent more time on this than you either wanted to or felt you needed to for what you planned to do with it. Personally, I think its fine if you intend to keep it this way.
I'm also a little frustrated at myself, because, being self taught and lacking any formal training, I lack some of the diction and artistic language to express what I mean exactly, even though I know what it means and can demonstrate it. So if there's something I'm not understanding, feel free to ask questions.
