I don't know if they are or not? I like symmetrical stuff so I did it.
Mario sports games and side games are fun, I like them~ I know people hate them and complain about Nintendo whoring out their franchise, but meh, IT'S FUNNNNNN

I don't mind them at all, they're usually fine examples of what they are. I just find sports and sports games boring. but I HAVE always wanted a mario skateboarding game.. complete with crazy theme-appropriate special moves you can pull off, and obstacle courses.. and then have Sonic as a special guest character

That's why I like Mario sports games really, they are fairly interesting, I mean...MARIO KART MAN LOOK AT DAT SERIES. Can you think of another racing game that is that intense, crazy and infuriating?
Sonic did a racing sport game...they had Billy Hatcher in it :U I like Billy Hatcher...

iunno man i feel like only mario kart 64 was good. the rest.. well I haven't played many of the rest, but the bits i did play felt wrong somehow. Less tight.
I always wanted a larger nintendo crossover racer though. So many possibilities.

oh gosh, I loved double dash to pieces, it was just amazing for me and felt like a massive improvement to me. I played that version most. Mario Kart Wii, eh, wasn't as good as double dash and Mario Kart WiiU I really REALLY enjoy.
So it goes on who you ask really~

I drew him once almost 8 years ago now. I used a piece of Mario Party art as reference, he was hard to draw back then 8I

This is cool!
Eons ago, I came up with my own idea for Wario's brother, before "Waluigi" existed, I called him "Fuigi" (since F was the closest thing to an inverted L, didn't think they'd use....a capital Gamma, basically. My version had a ridiculously curled mustache)

My first fanfiction character was a daughter of Mario and Peach, her name was Maria. It was a setup in which she traveled different Nintendo worlds with her BFF's Link and Pit and I thought I was the cleverest girl that ever made a fancharacter before.
and then I met the internet :U
hehee cute curly mustaches are great.

Maria? Interesting. Funny thing is there was a game character "Maria" who pretty much was like Mario, the old game "Great Gianna Sisters" (nothing like the current game of the same name) was basically an SMB clone for the Commodore 64, it wasn't available for long, because Nintendo made the company "an offer they couldn't refuse."
So which Link and Pit were this? (Angel Land Story or Myths and Monsters Pit?)
This idea I had for "Super Mario World 2" (back in 1993) had all of Mario's enemies teaming up...besides Bowser and the Koopa Kids, there was also Donkey Kong, Tatanga, and the Super Wario Bros. (and their pet dinosaur, Voshi) One of the levels I imagined entailed being required to get a Yoshi and Wings in the first part, and then Yoshi would take off into space, the second part was essentially a rehash of the Super Mario Land 2 "outer space" level with those angry stars, complete with auto-scrolling, except a) no boss at the end, and b) additional enemies, besides the stars and "space blowfish".Β Among others, there were also small "Angry Saturn" enemies who'd chase you. (that level was the first in a space-themed area/world, way before Mario Galaxy was even thought of) Also, instead of the usual "dark" area for the final world, it would be "weird" (but Bowser would still have a neon castle, a la Super Mario World)
I don't have the old notes I made, but Mario had two new forms, Pterodactyl and Salamander (the amphibian, not the fire-breather)

It is odd that it's flipped, you would THINK it would be rotated, since wario's original appearance was in a game involving a bucket with M on it, and if flipped over, said W. Like, that was wario's whole motif.Β And if it was rotated it'd be a 7!Β but of course the real pun is waru meaning bad.

Raakone In reply to Kairu-Hakubi [2015-08-22 00:28:00 +0000 UTC]
Wario's first appearence didn't have a bucket, it was in Mario Land 2, he had taken over Mario's castle. There was also a hidden level where there's "Wario Land 2" spelled mostly in coins, except for the W, spelled in bricks, you can destroy the bricks, and make blocks appear.

That SNES game came out before the Gameboy game? Are you talking about the one where Wario is dumping things so Mario, Peach and Yoshi are wearing helmets, and you, a faerie, have to make sure they don't fall? I remember reading about it, it was SUPPOSED to come to the English speaking world, but never did (or at least not North America)

So yeah it turns out mario land 2 came out first. huh. that... doesn't sense.

It's a shame how one of the mario's series most interesting characters is restricted to tennis and go-karting.
Poor, Poor Daisy....Β
(but seriously I love waluigi too.)

Never really saw the appeal of Daisy to be honest XD
I think both Daisy, Waluigi and all the other minor side characters are good enough playing the roles they do in the games they appear in, but that's just me and my unpopular opinions.

changeformatt In reply to Lady-of-Link [2015-08-21 23:22:40 +0000 UTC]
The reason I like Daisy and Waluigi is their personalities are much richer then the other mario characters.
But, now that I think about it, most of the appeal I see in them is probably self-projected. Nintendo don't really elaborate much on their personalities, so I fill in the blanks myself, and I guess I just really like those blanks.
So that either means I'm good at making lovable characters, or I get too easily attached to things.
Hoping it's the first one or, or at least both.

It's pretty interesting how how someone's opinion of one character can indirectly change how they view another character.
