She was truly pretty. Henry just was a stupid idiot and didn't want someone like her, who was sweet.

He didn't understand her very well and treated her bad in the beginning because of it.

I think that she was pretty average-looking, the problem was, Henry had a misunderstanding with her and used it as ammunition against her.

I have never heard about Anne of Cleves before. These photo's are really beautiful. She is definitely princess material. Thanks for the history lesson.

This was my 2nd attempt and it took 3 hours, but I did other things at the same time. Sometimes I can get really determined about an art piece, and then nothing else matters for a short time. It's that artist mentality that they can't stop until the piece is finished.

Ive done the Holbien version of Anne of Cleves as well (Its on my thingy if ur interested).
It would be good if a Anne of Cleves hood was put on there....
Oh Im dreaming!
What angered me about the Tudors was that the made Anne seem frumpy and overly german (not that I have anything against Germans) throughout the series.
She was actually very fashionable after the divorce!!!!!

That's very true, but the problem was, the majority of the English ppl weren't familiar w/ Low Countries fashions over in mainland Europe. Although it was popular for a woman to wear Cranach-style gowns, with a round skirt & high waist, and crazy-puff sleeves over in the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium; it was rarely figure-flattering. (Kinda brings about the, "what's popular isn't always right, and what is right isn't always popular" kind of proverb, doesn't it? )
The English were used to seeing the sleek styles of the Tudor court, so because the Cranach style was so different, they perceived Anne of Cleves as frumpy, rather than what she might have really looked like. I read that she was tall, blond (which ppl only found out on her wedding day), and was built like a tree-trunk. Not only was Henry having issues w/ his own shortcomings, he preferred petite women w/ curves, rather than tall women who were solidly built.

About 3 hrs. The game didn't have any crazy German fashions, so I had to improvise. Though you can see why the English never picked it up, lol.
