Description The animated version (left) vs. the original comic version (right).

I love them both, but it's a bit irritating though the characters arent the same as in the comic. Robin for example. In the comic, he's the third Robin Tim Drake, in the Anime he's the first, Dick Grayson, who'd become Nightwing later. Or Artemis, she's just a green version of Arrowette!

I wonder why they made the story this way...
Anyhow, my favorite charas of the show are Kid Flash and Aqualad.

The idea of this pic is just, they saw each other in a kind of mirror-thingy. But I quite didn't get the right effect, sorry.

You know what else? Artemis is actually a comic character but the difference is that she is a 50+ year old woman... and she is far from a hero, and she's not related to Jade. The cartoon was great in its own way, but I still hate the changes they made. Now... all the a lot of the canon facts for the characters are screwed up because of the show.

Exactly! The show was great and all, but everything wasn't as the comic was. I just started reading the comic though. But in just reading the first issue, it's quite different from the show. Sometimes I think that Season 2 was a time skip just to right the wrongs they made in Season 1. (Thus Impulse, Wondergirl and Robin III.....)

They most likely made the show the way it is because they didn't want to confuse people with origins and use characters that seem "easier" to know.
I wish they used the originals. They are perfect. They would have been more fun than grumpy superboy and high pitch m'gann.
Also they could have changed it since of copyright. That's also a reason a beloved character Stephanie Browm (spoiled) appeared forthwith seconds and never seen after that episode and why the whole hiatus happened was because of her and copyright issues.
I'm happy Bart is on the show now (but they made him have GREEN eyes not gold :c and makes him say crash and mode every second)~

Young Justice is not an anime. They just look influenced that's all. Like Avatar Airbender isn't anime etc... x)

Anyways, like you, I did get annoyed at how they messed up the original team (with the age time lines and everything, ie Tim Drake and Wally West). In the end I got used to it. Although I am still waiting for them to put in Cassie. But oh well, what do you do?

Kerevon [2012-03-19 02:02:24 +0000 UTC]

Cool picture. I agree, the disparity between the teams was annoying at first, but I've gotten used to it. It really helps that Superboy seems to have mostly gotten over the "Super-Angry" stage, as he's a very likable character when he's calm. Also, they spent an entire episode making Wally more sympathetic, which was quite frankly necessary.

I'd agree with that point, if he hadn't run out of a mandatory therapy session.
But then again, I'm pretty sure no other version of Artemis would be happy with her.
Though Tim might be interested in seeing what Dick was like as a child...

Kerevon In reply to allen-mikk [2012-03-19 17:52:43 +0000 UTC]

The only other versions of Artemis in the DCU are an Amazon warrior who occasionally subs for Wonder Woman and a Female Fury who was bow-crazy. And I happen to like Artemis somewhat. She and Zatanna go a long ways to not being Miss Martian.

And not being Miss Martian is a truly wonderful thing. Especially since I'm at least 40% sure that she subconsciously used her powers to make the JL name Superboy Connor (after the boyfriend on the TV show she based her Earth persona on), as well as influencing events so that she became a cheerleader. Who is dating a hot jock-type guy named Connor. Exactly like the TV show character she based herself on.

Basically, I think that her deep image problems are going to turn out to be fatally bad. And while Artemis IS withholding information (Cheshire being her sister, etc.) it doesn't appear as though her secrets are as harmful to others as Miss Martian's (mostly because Miss Martian is letting others use that info to blackmail her and because Artemis can't subconsciously affect people's minds).

But yes, Dick Grayson is getting pretty interesting. And he DID return to the mandatory therapy session of his own free will (which sounds like no big deal, but he's also basically a tank) and talked with Black Canary about his problems. Which quite frankly sound like an interesting and actually touching mixture of his angst from the old Young Justice and the DCNU.

Artemis crock
Alias: Tigress.
affiliation: Injustice Unlimited.

I have no idea where the statement about miss martian came from. But Superboy was Kon-el -See Connor- long before there even WAS a miss martian.

Again, no idea where the argument about fatally bad came from. But I'll argue anyway. Of course they aren't harmful. Half the people actually running the show already know. Hell, ROBIN knows, and this isn't exactly his smartest portrayal. I've seen Dick Portrayed a lot of ways, but never as having giggle fits. He was always more of the 'School-of-annoying-banter' than 'everything-can-be-funny'

And I'll agree with most about what you said about dick, with one big exception: he wasn't a part of the old young justice. That was Tim Drake. Please get your facts straight. That is one of my MAJOR problems with the new YJ. That and the entire Zatanna thing. She used to be about as old as BATMAN for crying out loud. She was part of the league. In infinite crisis, she was a major component of the League, so important, that for a moment she stood above Batman.
though I do enjoy their portrayal of the witch boy. that is MUCH better than the original flavor. Harm was better to, even if what they did completely destroyed Secret.

Kerevon In reply to allen-mikk [2012-03-20 05:53:43 +0000 UTC]

Let me explain myself.

Artemis Crock is very unlike the Artemis of Young Justice. Pretty much just the bow-and-arrow connection. Seeing as YJ Artemis is not a crazy villainess who calls herself "Tigress", I think we can discount her as being the same person.

I am well aware of when and how Superboy became Connor in the comics. I read the entire Superboy series before I was even aware there WAS a Miss Martian, and I was overjoyed to see him become Connor Kent. However, I believe that IN the YJ universe Miss Martian may have subconsciously affected Superboy's name.

As for the image problems, I was talking about Miss Martian and not Artemis. Artemis is also trying to hide her past, but no member of the team knows that Miss Martian is in fact a White Martian. In the episode "Image", it's revealed that Queen Bee is now holding that knowledge over her head. And it was revealed that all of Miss Martian's personality, her shape, and the fact that she's dating an attractive black-haired guy named Connor are based on an old tv show called "Hello Megan!". As if that wasn't weird enough, the show starred Beast Boy's mother, and the same episode heavily implies that in the YJ universe, Beast Boy's skin color and powers come from a blood transfusion from Miss Martian. I cannot make this stuff up. So basically, I was implying that it was MISS MARTIAN'S secrets that could be indirectly fatally harmful to the team.

Last but not least, I am aware that the comics YJ was founded by Superboy (back in his leather jacket days), Bart Allen (then known as Impulse, and whom Superboy kept thinking of as a girl sometimes), and Time Drake (a very serious Robin who nonetheless had the most ridiculous Eminem-esque disguise, though this was on purpose).

I am also aware that my last paragraph was worded awkwardly, so that I was saying that it was Dick Grayson who returned to the mandatory meetings of his own free will and whose angst was a mixture of the Comics-YJ and the DCNU stuff. I was attempting to say that it was SUPERBOY who returned to the meeting of his own free will and whose angst was a mixture of the Comics-YJ and the DCNU. As a matter of fact, his entire personality seems to straddle a line between the two.

Yes, Dick Grayson is interesting here. I'm warming to him.

Last but not least, Zatanna. I actually like this Zatanna a lot. Yes, she used to be as old as Batman. The first I ever heard about her was when she appeared on Batman: TAS (and it was heavily implied she didn't have real magic on that show). However, the younger Zatanna is compelling and is a fine addition to the group. Her relationship with her father was touching, and it was actually sad to see Zatarra become Doctor Fate. Moreover, this version doesn't look like a prostitute (something no other version to date has quite managed to avoid), so I give her brownie points for that.

I am also aware that much of the confusion I have caused was due to poor wording in my previous comment. I am sorry, but trust me when I say that I am VERY familiar with the old YJ comics. For instance, I know that YJ got a spaceship from a sheikh they saved (more specifically Bart got the spaceship), they often ran into secret agents known as Fite'n'Madd (and the daughter of Fite became a member named Empress who would eventually be forced to raise the infant versions of both her parents), and that Slobo, a semi-clone of Lobo, would eventually go on to somehow become the most sensitive and empathetic character on the team despite being a clone of someone who destroyed his entire race for absolutely no good reason whatsoever. Also Arrowette, who Artemis was used to replace. This is good, because Arrowette's major claim to fame was almost killing a guy (were it not for the timely intervention of Superboy) and being bossed about by her mother (who had also once been Arrowette, and who DID eventually kill a guy during a YJ mission, though the dude was a freaky cannibal so nobody mourned him).

allen-mikk In reply to Kerevon [2012-03-20 06:54:34 +0000 UTC]

Much better explanation here, which I'm thankful for. I agree and disagree with a lot of what you say, and in reality we could probably keep this debate going until the show stops airing officially. and DC falls under the weight of a new franchise (I.E. - for all eternity).

Interesting back story on Megan. I'll admit I have not seen that episode, and it really would have helped me like her as a character in this show. Though I'm still waiting for her to throw a pie at someone.

Lets just back off from the entire Superboy's name portion of the debate. Cannot be proven one way or another until otherwise stated.

I'll agree with all statements about Dick. This is an interesting version of him, and will probably turn out well... If I can manage to wrap my mind around it. I just can't manage to justify to my inner comic book geek that Tim Drake is not a part of the young justice. especially when Dick is wearing his costume and has his tech skills.
(or in shorter terms: Yay, ROBIN! wait, it's Dick in Tim's suit? does notcomputedoesnotcompu-)

Zatanna I agree and disagree with you on. Not looking like a stripper is definitely a plus. A major plus. Only Wonder Woman can get away with that. Yet part of the reason she doesn't look like one is her age. she hasn't quite hit puberty yet. throw in a few years and the problem comes back.
Also you are correct. In BTAS she did not have powers, but the original Zatanna did, and she kicked major ass. I think her first appearance was in a Hawkman comic, but she eventually migrated to Batman, as almost all good things do.

And I miss Fite'n'Madd. They were epically awesome. I'm still hoping they manage to get worked into the series somehow. They were repeat characters and were in the first freaking comic! You can't just write them out.

yeah, arrowette's replacement was probably important for a more serious YJ team. Though I have to give her props for being one of the few heroes smart and skilled enough to make something important of their lives OUTSIDE of being a hero.

But Artemis is Officially Artemis Crock. daughter of Paula Crock -formerly Paula Brooks- and someone obviously named Crock. They threw in sportsmaster, so that sends gears going. But Cheshire is new to the mix so you might be right. Add in Cheshire and Sportsmaster working together quite well despite having a very poor relationship..... Well, we'll see.

I've got a lot of hope for this series. But, I like my comics, myths, and reality to follow historical fact. As such, nothing bothers me more than when they take what had been one of my all time favorite characters (Secrete) and turned her into one pretty poorly done episode. I mean come on! On her first official mission Despero run away like a little bitch. She got ice cream from Darksied/side. That much awesome.... cannot and was not crammed into one episode.

Again, we could probably go back and forth on this forever. So to add to the fun, let me ask you this: Who do you think is the unlucky character they're going to kill?
