Description Khepri, a Scarab headed god from Nefertari's tomb. I really enjoyed making the scarab-head.

I can't help but ponder the mind-set of an ancient people confronted by a spaceship full of multi-racial aliens whose technology was enough to make the seem god-like. when the aliens have fixed their flat tire, I think of those humans left with the task of explaining away the gods.... and because they had only the world around them to use to explain what they saw they used the critters of their world to personify what they saw. "Bug-Face" just reminds me of what a tentacle-faced alien might be portrayed as. That would explain the Set Animal, too, since there is no animal analog. But we'll never know.

Permit me to suggest to you "Reading Egyptian Art" and "Symbol and Magic in Egyptian Art" by Richard H. Wilkinson. The inner meaning of many of the hieroglyphs and artistic conventions are explained in these two books.
