Description This is my 17th little creature sculpture of the year. She ended up having a very fluffy head... it looks a bit like a lions main to me.

Is the mane made out of rabbit fur or faux fur?

I'm not sure what kind of fur it is but I know it's not rabbit and it certainly isn't faux fur. It comes off an old vintage hat which is kinda gross and sheds fur everywhere but is super fluffy and very thick. Whatever kind of animal it came from it had a very thick undercoat and hair that is about 4 inches long. It might be some kind of fox or lynx but I really don't know.

I love the mask-like face, especially with the "lion's mane"! It's fantastic!

I WANT TO CHASE IT AROUND....

...then steal it away... My god, your little sculptures are always so cute >A< I really adore this one! By the way, how have you been?

But if you do that it'll run and hide in a place where nobody can reach it!
And then I'll have to set mouse traps to try and get it back!

lol I've been cold, don't like the winter, but other then that things are good. What about you? Hopefully life has been at least amusing.

This is beautiful ^_^ I really like the stance, and the fluff really adds an essence of realism. How exactly do you go about adding strands of hair like that to a sculpted figure?

oh thank you.
Adding the hair can be really fun or really boring depending on your outlook. Basically I just cut small pinches of hair and glue them on to the figures head, one lock at a time, starting in the back and working up to the front. Sometimes the glue needs time to dry before I can add more hair and when it gets towards the end I need to work with smaller and smaller pinches of hair to help keep the glue from being visible.

Ah okay, yea that makes sense I've always been interested in the kind of figures you do, but I'm not much of a 3D artist. I did however always want to make my kitsunes into figures, and seeing you work with hair and other textures just adds a whole new dimension to it. Thank you for taking the time and explaining it a little ^^ I really appreciate it.

And keep up the awesome work I really can't wait to see more

If you ever get a chance to try it you should certainly do it. Your little kitsunes could look really nice as figurines I think.
And it's really not that hard once you get started.. I actually think that 2D art is more difficult... but maybe I just have an easier time excepting the faults in a sculpture as something that gives it more personality.

Oh thanks ^^ I started a small sculpture of a kitsune just to mess around a bit because of curiosity, and your pieces inspired me to go about it even more now.

Definitely looks like a lion's mane! So gorgeous and creepy. The face looks like she's smiling but it has an evil, unpredictable air to it.

Thank you very much. and yes, she does have a rather mischievous little smile. I think she must be getting into things she shouldn't when nobody is looking.
