Dialogue

In my quest to learn more about writing dialogue so that I could accurately portray tension in various scenes or better convey messages to my audience, I found many articles online from other aspiring writers or published authors. These articles have some amazing advice and I would like to share these resources with you!

Before I get started, just a little background first. What brought me to doing research on this topic in the first place came from a critique I got on another forum. I sent up my witch battle piece because I was mainly looking for feedback on the actual action and not so much the emotion or dialogue. I was focused on not making the battle boring. Try as I might, to get people to understand my plight with battle scenes, they could only focus on the dialogue and emotion aspects, after all, fight scenes are hard. So focusing on this one critique I got here for a moment, one person relayed to me that I was overusing names in my fight, whether in conversation or in a narration. Now in the scene, there are like four people involved so things can get tough. Being a WIP it’s not going to be perfect, so I started my search on name calling and found many great articles on dialogue talking about the subject. This is what actually led me to research more on dialogue. What I found was amazing. Hope it helps!

These aren’t necessarily all articles some are lists. They do still pertain to dialogue though. Characters often need things to do when speaking and sometimes finding something for your character to do that isn’t repetitive can be hard in some forms of writing. Also, I added in body language, voice, and facial expression lists. Just some stuff to give you some ideas!

No problem. I still have a ton more I need to upload, in the group gallery too. I've just been busy with reading coding tutorials.

Oh no the bots and how to set them up. Idk anything about coding or language. I know DA throws around html or css a lot though.

Thanks I've not really had time to sit down and work one yet, most just reading stuff so. I'm also waiting patiently for another admin on a project they are on. So if you want to help I may have to direct you to them when they are ready. I'm curious to see if I can figure it out. Its a good learning experience.

Well - I can't promise that I will have the time, but if I have, I would gladly take a look at it . I have been asking me for a while already how those bots work...
