Because Potter GREW UP in light and love. But Severus, in dark and hatred. One has money, glory and girls, the other nothing.
Hatred to Potter, to Father, to Muggles(not muggle-blood), to World itself. When he saw his beloved laughed at him, last light was banished.

So amazing. Loved Harry's expressions. I feel bad for him, it can't be easy seeing your enemy in the same position he's always found himself in and his own father the tormentor.

THis is what I didn't like about the books after 4th year. First three books she showed that Snape was a 'bad guy' and James was 'good' but after book 4, she makes it seem as if James was the 'bad guy' and Snape was good. She did the same exact thing to Dumbledore.Β It's as if J.K. couldn't make up her mind.Β

I think it more about revealing more about the characters through Harry's eyes than anything else. As Harry gets older, he learns more about people in his life and that they either aren't as good or bad as he thought. It's like how he finds out the truth about Snape at the end of the series after he dies, he had no idea because no one ever told him. What bugs me most is how no one told Harry the truth about his father, they just told him Snape was probably envious of James when they were teens, whichΒ was a big, fat lie. He was big bully to Severus and that's why he hated James, which is far more understandable.
However, Harry's character changes drastically as well. He goes from this sweet, innocent, golden boy (which isn't really that realistic considering he had been abused and neglected for eleven years without any real support outside of his family all those years) to someone much darker. After the end of the forth book he becomesΒ almost a completely different person. He's full of hate and anger, suffering from severe depression through most of the fifth bookΒ (which he never fully recovers from through the rest of the series), he's messing around with dangerous curses and dark magic, there are times he seriously wants to hurt someone, he takes his feelings out on Ron and Hermione etc.Β I think this far more realistic, it shows he has some serious mental issues, an evil and darkness that wasΒ coming out of him, and acts very similar to someone who's just experienced an extremelyΒ traumatic eventΒ (the severe depression, PTSD-like symptoms and survivor's guiltΒ he suffers from during the end of the 4th and throughout the 5th book, having a psychopathic wizard connected to his mind just made things worse.) I wouldn'tΒ have wanted him to turn into a psychopath or anything but I think he should've fought more with that evil inside of him, especially in the first 4 books because he seems too perfect in them. I also think that there were times Snape actually stopped Harry from turning out like he did or possibly even worse, like how he really got down hard on him when he was using those dangerous curses and dark magic from his old spell book.

I've always been fascinated by how alike they are, but Snape lacks any emotional growth in the books - even when he gets to know Harry and should feel some kinship to him, he just keeps hating him for his appearance that is so like James'. Harry has a real moment of insight here, I wish Snape could have been that cool. Loved this strip by the way, its a favorite of mine
