LieLie losing control of the TaoTie demon in her throat.The ink-washy effects you can get with the pentel color brush ink is pretty fun, I'm really enjoying this!!
Also, I just wanted to mention that I'm sorry about the lack of any (real) development on Shantih, LieLie's story. I've been contemplating what kind of story I want it to be, honestly--it started out as a mostly fairly realistic story with just the one supernatural element of LieLie's possession, but I've been wondering if I want to throw in more supernatural creatures/concepts... I just don't want it to take away from the very down-to-earth issues of dealing with disfigurement and acceptance that happen in the real, magic-less world.
(So like, spoilers, LieLie never does find a way to fix her face, lol.)

and holy sh*t, whatever you do with the story, it sounds like you've got some awesome themes going already! I'm thinking of Pan's Labyrinth rn, where all the Spooky Supernatural things amplified or drove the point home of the "real world" problems.

Personally I like supernatural elements hehe. But I don't think supernatural elements have to take away from the themes you want to address - it's all about how you execute it. Like, if you add supernatural sparkle magic that heals everyone good as new, then I'd say that would take away from the disfigurement theme (and perhaps even belittle it to a degree). But if the characters must live with their disfigurement in spite of the supernatural stuff, that doesn't have to distract from the theme.
That's my two-cents based on what I've been doing with the themes of my own story~ :'>

And yeah I totally agree, I definitely don't want there to be any magic that can heal or bring people back from the dead or anything like that, so I think if I did anything I'd like to focus on just, like, other supernatural creatures...? But without turning it into any kind of generic exorcism/weekly monster hunt type of thing either, y'know? So... it's a tough thing to balance, hurmmm.....

Ha, yeah, a lot of my stories started out with that generic monster of the week format. xD But ya know, character development and world building fixed a lot of that for me. So yeah, it's a thing to balance, and will probably take some experimenting to figure out, but I know you can do it. If you want it, it will work.

I think you can put some supernatural elements and still talk about those issues in the story. It is all about how you focus everything and the message you want to communicate through it :> <3
