Just posting another warm-up sketch in SAI; it's hard to find time to draw while running around China, and I've also been busy pulling together proofs of novels/books via Nano, so...Kind of a rough version of a poster picture or something for my novel , I guess. Been a while since I drew Iris; s/he's a bit of an interesting challenge to illustrate at all due to the nature of the character... (Let me just say that Iris' resembling Seth's sister is no coincidence) Still, I liked the results here, so.
...Funny, I never really pictured illustrating anything from Iris in color. The whole damn novel's just so drab and gray...;;

Ahhh, well, I kind of work through the eyes of the characters that see Iris, since I never narrate from Iris's POV. Mostly, for Seth, he sees Iris as a child that resembles his little sister, so he thinks of Iris as a "she", even though (I think I've planned it this way) he knows that biologically, Iris is kind of both/neither. I, uh, hope it'll work out, hahahah... 8D;;

Thanks! I think, as I was re-writing this novel, it got quite a bit darker and grittier... Now, if only I can draw/paint that way-! xD

I love this, everything you draw and write fro your novel just springs to life and I'm totally loving all your characters!! I think this would be even cooler if you had rain falling like with flash and lightning in the background.

Rain actually has significance in the novel--namely, that the world hasn't had rain in over a hundred years, so you could say I'm saving it for a very special point in the novel~ x)

I like how very pale and shiny Iris is compared to Seth.
I am a little confused by the look on Seth's face though. He seems just...tired?

Hahahahah, that's pretty much Seth... he never really wanted anything to do with this (or so he convinces himself), and he doesn't trust himself to be able to protect anyone, so it's very much a matter of Seth questioning why he's even doing what he's doing.

Looks awesome though, especially with those raw streaks running through the scene. Maybe if it had a hint of color in there to avoid too much grayness?

Hahahah! Well, Iris is literally meant to be a figure painted in gray. Barely any skin tone, gray eyes... terribly boring, I'm afraid. xD Seth has orange eyes but that's about it... oh, dear...
I'll try to push a little to lighten stuff up, though! Still working on mood/palettes...
