Description
Another sunset over Kattfjorden, with Finnkollen in the spotlight. And yeah, I don't keep 100% accurate to the topology of the fjords. I am practicing and just enjoying myself.
But I like how this one turned out. I actually like them all, to be honest, how humble of me, oh well, it's beautiful to enjoy your own art. I like how the light turned out, the sunlight haze in the distance and the blinding shine in the middle just behind the mountain. And yet clouds, painted by light, casting light on the mountain.... I begin to really enjoy painting that effect. It's not easy, mind you, it's something to keep in mind all the time, it's just so complicated, light coming from everywhere in different colors and it all reflects off the mountain because snow is white and it loves to give back the light it receives, with all its color and splendour. Beautiful, Nature is simply fantastic and we can only ever imitate that beauty. Anyway.
More Wildlife.... I've decided to always include Wildlife in these paintings. Not only because they enliven the scenery, but also because.... Wildlife needs more appreciation. ESPECIALLY in Norway. Norway is terrible, the Land is fantastic, but the state is simply atrocious in how they treat Wildlife, especially predators.... seriously, it's hideous, it's atrocious and in very stark contrast to the image they are trying to sell as a Nature-oriented travel destination. Yes indeed, if by "Nature" you mean a lifeless landscape where everybody native has been massacred for completely nonsense reasons. So I've adopted my best friend's habit of including Wildlife in paintings. You'll probably hear more about it as they go.
So yeah, who's on the painting here. The two white-tailed eagles from before, who we believed are mates, except this time they are rather vague flying silhouettes. I try to strike a balance between readable detail and paintery vagueness. In the undefined distance, we see a bunch of crows going after a black-backed gull with prey. Some of them are about to attack and try to snatch. And in the foreground a small flock of razorbills are having a good time.
So was I while painting. So are you, I hope, while looking at them.
