Till now there is no snow on the Alps. To draw this sketch I used a photo taken last year. This place, at the top of an hill, is a part of the small town of Varese, where usually I spend my summer.Please enjoy in full-view

Thanks for your support, Shimon. Not always is possible to seat and paint with other people around looking at you... When I use photos, I always use my photos taken with the purpose to use for painting.
Of course I prefer open air and direct observation, when I can.

yes, i can well understand the difficulty... and the use of photos... what i was asking about is whether you see an intrinsic difference in the personality of the painting, depending on whether you were there when you painted it.

There is a big difference, as you can well understand... The use of a photo like reference can help, of course, but the feeling is completely different... If can use this expression, it is like a soup with no salt (suppose we can use due the high blood pressure

With a minimal amount of brushstrokes you have created a beautiful scene!!! Cool colors for *cold season*!!! Somewhere on my pc, I think I have a photo I took of a small town in Arizona...the homes flowing down the hillside, something like in your painting!!
