Pediophobia - Fear of dolls/mannequins.For my self chosen project at college on phobias (final major project of the course).
Self-Portrait. (As I'm trying to show a personal phobia)
She is not meant to look like she's scared herself - the concept is meant for the audience to see their own fears. With this project I'm trying to show phobias in two different ways -
1. To capture the sufferer facing their fear.
2. To bring the audience's own feelings into the work by using the audience as the 'sufferer'.

I love this shot.
It actually kind of hits home for me. I'm pediophobic due to some really awful dreams I had as a child.
It does a wonderful job of communicating the message, but I'm wondering... how does it look vertical? I think the fact that the tearstain is also horizontal throws off my perspective.
Perhaps it would be more.. convincing (I don't think that's the correct word, but it's the first one that comes to mind) if the smear ran vertical in the horiontal format, or vertical in a vertical format. Maybe it's a matter of optical comfort. But that's just my opinion. I really like it either way.

only thing that sort of bothers me is the dolls hand on the right side of your face isn't in the shadows like that side of your face is

The hands certainly look like plastic and I see what you're trying to do, but I don't see the genuine fear. Your eyes don't look terrified; which means I'm a little lost when I just look at the photo (it wasn't until I clicked the thumbnail and read the description). I realise that not all photographs need to be horrendously blindly obvious, but I think a little something would help.
