I grew up watching Star Trek: Voyager and reruns of the original series (Kirk rules!). I even watched the Star Trek: Enterprise series (I thought it was cool) but it aired on a bad time so missed the second season.

I think ST: First Contact is one of the better movies (lots of action!) and really enjoyed the newest movie. It was a nice reboot on the franchise and I hope it will spawn some more movies or a tv series.

But frankly, Star Trek holds a little to much tech talk and politics for my taste. I like my Sci Fi to be smart indeed, but also fast and cool. Some humour and well done action is all it takes to get me hooked. Like Pitch Black, Starship Troopers or The Fifth Element. Those are cool movies in my taste, but still... Star Trek got something really geeky and grabbing about it.
Maybe that's why Gurbie is a secret little Trekkie after all?
