well xD I'm actually not 100% sure myself... as you may have noticed, the image is called "painting" and placed in the gallery called "drawings" 
It's very like painting/drawing traditionally (in real life) if you have the right programs
Well, what i do is i use photoshop as my drawing/painting program. and in combination with a drawing tablet (kind of a digital pen if you like xD that registrates how hard you're pressing down the pen and where it is "on the computer" ) So basicly, i'm drawing it on a board in real life and it appears on the screen with colors and everything i've chosen ^^ and i can change brush type and size and smudge things out and blur them and so on
x) I'm sorry if the explenation sounded a bit stupid.. but it was a bit hard since i don't know what you knew beforehand.. oh well xD
*sorry for my poor english.. if there was any.. i got a bit lost while writing xD

WOW! How did I miss this one? Jo got such a bum deal. Everythng is so well done, it looks better than a photo. That's what I tell people sometimes. an artist can go way beyond the refs and you always do.
