hell, no. I think you're a sentient inkblot.

apologies ... forgot to mention ... that's an old categorization I've been using for years, to describe advocates of abstract-art-to-"blow peoples' minds" or the likes;
because "sentient cloud" just doesn't convey the same meaning ( if even as understandable, with regards to intent ) ...

I'm glad it got everyone talking. Thats why I like shooting surreal images, everyone sees something different in it. It becomes a sort of inkblot test. I know what it was originally, and have a different perspective, but everyone's view is equally valid. If you see nothing in it, then what does that ultimately mean about you? In the end, I think getting everyone's talking is what art should aim for.

a cloud is a cloud ...
so, what makes a beautiful cloud any different from a plain one? interpretation (that.is. subjective opinion)
and what makes art more than subjective opinion?
thought.
then, what makes art that's not repetitive hackery?
fresh thought.
this is not an example of fresh thought.
and therefore, "lesser" art.
logically speaking.
please try again.

Thanks for your thoughtful comment. Would it turn all your logic on its head if I told you its not a cloud photograph?

Was this a mistake?
And I know what polaroid transfers are, I've done quite a few and all of them had distinguishable subject matter. Was the film expired? I don't quite understand why this is interesting.

i'm curious why you think there has to be a discernable figurative image here. (?)

Generally in abstract photography there is at least the illusion of the abstract shapes, forms and colors as being intentional. This piece looks to me like a mistakenly exposed polaroid that was opened too early or too late. The craft is not obvious by looking at it, and neither is a particular aesthetic. I can find tons of interesting and beautiful polaroid and emulsion transfers by searching deviant art, so I disagree with the choice to feature this.

Not frequently. What I think is that "maybe", for many people (specially those who does not have big knowledge about photography) this could be an odd photo because it does not show discernible figures.

You're not learning if you're not confused. Expand your mind and experiences.

I agree with you in this "Expand your mind and experiences". But honestly I think that if you are confused is because you are not learning... and some people does not want to learn more than what they can learn easily... although it does not means they really don't want to learn... sometimes people needs for someone else who can teach them properly.

In fact I don't disagree neither the category nor the photo. What I think is that "maybe", for many people (specially those who does not have big knowledge about photography) this could be an odd photo because it does not show discernible figures.

oh so very nice, such a painterly expression. its soothing with the lapsing textures, like the mist is rising from the swamp, and the sun is setting in the haze of cloud and dust. yet on a hallucinagenic level where i lose myself in the vibrances of nature. in the high plateos that i fall destined for in the realm of my own mind, body, and energy.
