This is an all time favorite for me!
While I think (not quite sure) that what caused the cut is the needle, I always interpret it as someone trying to sew the girl's cut. To fix her.
Being a cutter myself, and my boyfriend trying to "fix me", this really resonates with me. I cry everytime I see this picture, and yet it makes me feel very happy. I love your work and I really admire you. I feel like you poured your soul into every single photograph you take, but not only yours. I feel like you managed to take a small part of every human's soul and suffering and put it into these magnificent images you bless us with. <3

This is my favourite piece by you. To me, the name and focus of the piece are really emotionally triggering. The cut with the sewing needle is something I personally have done before and the way that everything else looks so innocent provides an amazing contrast. I also love the other hands actually causing the cut, it really resonates well with the title. Based on my interpretation of the piece, the fact that someone else is actually doing the cutting really reminds me of how other people typically cause depression and self-harm.
I'm probably way the hell off on that idea..... but thanks for reading.

This is a very moving image. I cannot explain exactly why it affects me so deeply. For sure, it has to do with your use of contrasts. There is the prevailing backdrop of softness - the pretty girl, the feminine attire, the bare legs, the faded colors, the soft focus. And against this backdrop there is the harshness of the cut and the vivid redness of the blood on the girl's wrist. That contrast is beautiful in itself. However, I think that there is something more. It may have to do with the way my male protective instincts are engaged by the image of the injured girl. I don't know. I have seen other cutting images; but they do not have as much impact as yours. In your case, they are art. By the way, I also find it interesting that the instrument responsible for the cut in this case is a sewing needle, a traditionally feminine implement, one that is usually used to repair things, to close gaps rather than to cut things.
