Description Taken on August 2nd, 2008 at the Volunteer Park Conservatory in the Emerald City (Seattle, WA).

Origin: China and Japan

A beautiful shrub that can acquire heights to 6' with cordate downy green leaves, flowering in tight clusters, each flower like a tiny rose or rosebud, the calyx which is rosy/purple is beautiful and prominent before the corolla opens. Very highly fragrant at sundown. Propagates with underground runners, and can be invasive.

This Clerodendrum is very easy to grow and bloom. It has nice large leaves and beautiful double fragrant flowers. Unfortunately this plant produces many runners and can be very invasive for southern gardeners. It does grow well in containers.

Cashmere Bouquet (Clerodendrum bungei), otherwise known as Rose Glory Bower, Mexicali Rose, or Mexican Hydrangea, is a sweetly fragrant summer-bloomer with 6" pink bloom clusters atop dark glossy green heart-shaped foliage. Each beautiful pink flower on this four- to six-foot upright perennial has ray-like petals, a lovely perfume and attracts butterflies; through the mass of pink flowers, numerous more hot pink buds bide their time. The plant is named for Professor Alexander von Bunge, a 19th century Ukrainian botanist.
