Description
I had been assigned to create a cover illustration for a new book i thought of for college. This is what i came up with. ^w^I'd love to write a story to go with this illustration but i think i prefer to have this image as just an image.
This anubis is actually a cross between a male and female...soooo no gender for this puppy!
Note: I didn't use Prisma Colours for this one, just Derwent Pencils.

Indeed, quite a misunderstood Egyptian God.
Far to many people mistake it as an evil demon of sorts, when in fact it was no more than a god of embalming and mummy preservation.

Oh, I have a suggestion. Try using different types of paper that have texture, and some that are hard that have none. The hard stuff allows for cleaner blends with less choppiness, but you can get some cool effects with texture. Like rock and battered steal. Also try starting off your shades with a super light hand, build up your color slowly. This will make it blend better.

I've found it quite difficult to find some decent artists paper, most of the time i have to resort to basic printer paper and artbooks.
The only paper that i have that isn't plain is my Watercolour pad (300gsm) i think. Its super thick textured paper.
I'll try out some other papers when i get a hold of some!

Paper quality is really a bigger factor than most people think. Just as important as your medium. Your going to love the different high quality papers, I promise.
