Description This rock structure is called Bowerman's Nose. Although it looks sculpted by man it is completely natural and stands at just over 21 feet tall. It is found on Hayne Down in Dartmoor National Park in the Southwest of England.Β

The legend attached to this place goes something like this;
In Norman times, there was a mighty hunter called Bowerman, who lived in the Manaton area. One day he was out with his hounds when he startled a hare. He immediately gave chase and was so engrossed in the hunt he was not aware that the hare was leading him through a coven of witches in the middle of a ritual.
The witches were incensed and decided to punish him. The next time he went out hunting, one of them turned herself into a hare. She led him on a tremendous chase over the moors and through the valleys until, eventually, when he was exhausted, she enticed him into an ambush of the other witches. They promptly used their combined powers to turn him into the massive rock formation now called Bowerman's Nose and his hounds into the rocks at the top of nearby Hound Tor.Β

Love the story, and the shot- looks like the profile of a person/primate wearing a hat.

How big is it?Β
