Such are big cats, playful like little house cats.
Whereby not all belong to the genus Panthera, these are only the leopard, tiger, jaguar, snow leopard and lion. The other two are indeed large cats, but no big cats.

Cats will be cats.

This illustration was created for the wild cat conservation group, Panthera, so I wanted to make sure I included all of the wild cat species they work with. From their website: "Our team of leading biologists and law enforcement experts develop innovative strategies to address the dire threats facing cheetahs, jaguars, leopards, lions, pumas, snow leopards, and tigers."

I know that the organization uses the taxonomic genus term as a name, but also takes care of the other two large cats.

But all this does not harm the picture, it is a nice picture of the large cats and big cats.

Yeah, I'm aware that the cheetah doesn't belong in the Panthera genus. But cheetah is one of the big cats the organization Panthera works to help and protect so I wanted to make sure the cheetah was represented in the illustration.

I love your colouring style
As a zoologist I'm bothered by the presence of the cheetah as it's not part of the Genus Panthera... but eh, my favourite animals so. I hope they are including smaller wildcats too.

LCibos In reply to PixieSabre [2013-02-19 16:58:28 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Yeah, it's been pointed out to me that the cheetah doesn't belong in the Panthera genus. But it is one of the big cats the organization Panthera works to help and protect so I wanted to make sure cheetah was represented in the illustration. And yeah, I'm pretty sure Panthera does help other feline species aside from the big seven.

I just looked up their website, its making me want to graduate now so I can be a felid zoologist already
