My (now ex) boyfriend's cat Piggie with 10 little baby kittens.Only half of the kittens are hers. The other half are her sister's. The litters were born a little over a week apart.

Pretty much. The litters were born so close apart that the mothers just took care of all the kittens together.

I think they had like 25 cats at the most...
They've found homes for a lot of them... But last time I was over there I counted about 10 cats running around. So yah, they're trying to find them all homes... before more kittens are born...

Well see, one day a random pregnant stray cat showed up at my (now) ex-boyfriend's house and her kittens in the garage. So his mom would bring food out to the garage for them and put a litter box in there for them. So the kittens made a little home in there. Almost everyone in the family is allergic to cats... So they couldn't really keep them... So they tried to find homes for them.
But then the kittens grew up. And other male cats in the neighborhood started coming over... And next thing you know, 2 of the kittens are pregnant, and the mom is pregnant with another litter. So they wanted to get the cats fixed. But that is very expensive. So they searched around trying to find somewhere that could fix the cats and it would affordable...
And before they could do that another one of the kittens became pregnant.
So all of the cats were either pregnant or nursing, so they couldn't be fixed yet. Plus now they had over 20 cats. And more on the way...
They've found homes for a lot of the cats now. But still... they have about 10 cats left...

Don't know where you live, but our shelter has a low cost spay/neuter program for pp who care for feral cats. Kittens can be fixed as young as 6 months (and can get pregnant at 8!). I'm not trying to preach, but obviously you don't want to get in over your head...

I believe that the family looked into programs like that and still couldn't find anything they could afford. But now they've found homes for all of the cats, and got the ones fixed that they decided to keep for themselves as pets.
