yes that was a pleasant surprise.
im excited in a different way. Although the Β Legendary Goji was done right in a western way, the Japanese can really bring out the essence, the juice and the extracts of a Godzilla film.

This may be a bit cynical, but I think the Japanese are afraid that America might actually be close to getting it right this time. Granted G'14 wasn't perfect, but still, it was a definite improvement over '98. They may be afraid of America "stealing their thunder", considering they're very anal about how they've handled other Japanese-cultural stamps, like with the reception of both "47 Ronin" and "Pacific Rim".
But I could be wrong, and they may be thinking the more Godzilla the merrier, after all, this will be the first time we've had two legit Godzillas operating at the same time.
