I've been an increasingly Sailor Moon cenric mood lately, more specifically Senshi/Shitennou so I did this little diddy today instead of my homework and other projects XD Bad I know.Anywho here are my two favorite Sailor Moony char. The gorgeous star gazing Nephrite and his Jovian love Jupiter, technically this isn't Makoto because well I decided I wanted to put her in a fancy princess gown so this is The Crowned Princess of Jupiter, Athena for your viewing pleasure.
(Note that Athena is simply a fan name that I have designated Makoto for the Silver Millenium as far as the cannon is concerned the Inner and Outer Senshi never were given names in the Sil. Mil. other than Princess Jupiter and so on. I am also fully aware of the fact that in many Fanfictions it is Mercury who is designated the name Athena, however I do not feel the name suits Mercury and will gladly explain why if people have a major beef about it.)

Can you explain I really don't see the name for the goddess of wisdom as fitting for the sailor senshi of thunder and courage.

It is only in recent history that Athena has been regulated to being merely the goddess of wisdom. True that she was a favorite of philosophers and academia, but looking at her mythology she is most active in her role as the Goddess of Heroes and warriors. She favors the brave and courageous, Odysseus, Jason, Perseus to name a few. She was a goddess of warfare as well as a goddess of the domestic arts, a juxtaposition that I feel suits our baking flowery tomboy Makoto very well.
Moreover, Athena was the favorite child of Zeus. It was she that the prophecy was said would be the child to become greater than Zeus himself. She alone shares the attributes of the thunderbolt.
So all and all I think it far more fitting that the senshi of Jupiter hold the name Athena, than Mercury. Just my opinion tho.

It's the look in Nephrite's eye that really gets me with this one. And I get the impression he's holding his breath. Like he's just seen his everything in her and he's afraid to breathe or she'll vanish. (Or maybe he's just contemplating too closely the way her dress is sort of sliding off one shoulder)
