Description First thing. My camera is really shit, so it looks a lot better in person.

This is a drawing of Persephone based on a pre-Raphaelite painting (Proserpine - Dante Gabriel Rossetti). It's not supposed to be an exact copy for many reasons but mainly because I don't think that Persephone was very melancholy and the painting makes her seem distraught.

Persephone is the goddess of the spring in Greek mythology. She is the daughter of Demeter, and is wife of Hades (god of the underworld).
In Greek mythology she is kidnapped by Hades and bound to him by her eating six pomegranate seeds in the underworld. I personally think that Persephone willingly became Hades' consort and Queen and was not taken against her will.

Anyhoos. This was drawn using Derwent Artists coloured pencils, Staedtler coloured pencils, promarkers, a white gel pen and a 2H pencil.
