Also, for anyone wondering why I gave Onewhisker such a long ass tail
He's related to Tallstar. His grandma is Palebird I believe? Who is Tallstar's mom, so that makes Tallstar Onewhisker's... Uncle if I'm doing my family trees correctly? Half Uncle.

Also, wondering why it's Warrior names instead of Leader names?
I Headcanon that they had a thing as young warriors. Both wanted something rebellious, so, you know, forbidden romance. They had a bad break up, and Fire wants both to move on, so he found Sandstorm, and started a life. One tried to move on with another kitty pet, but realized that he was too gay for Fire to move on. Making him bitter. Once he became leader, he maintained his bitterness against Firestar, but was able to move on with Whitetail to have Heathertail.
Bitterboi raised a daughter who's into bitterbois.

I wonder what gay boi Tallstar would think of their relationship...
I love that these headcanons give the characters several crushes or mates throughout their lives, and yet the main relationships still work. Feels a lot more realistic!

I'd like to think he'd be happy with how the relationship started, and bummed out with how it ended. Especially with Onestar become cold and hostile to Firestar.
Heck yeah! It's normal for a being to have more that one partner in their life. Especially if it's a relationship when they were young, or a fling, or just a romantic thing that never really went anywhere! I like it a lot more that the 'I'm in love with so and so, so that means I can't love anyone else' which gets boring XD

Oh yeah, I can imagine. It's kind of a shame how Onestar became later on, but it does make sense. Once he became a leader, he had to earn his clanmates' respect after everything, so being very close with Firestar probably wouldn't have been a good idea. I think Onestar tried to push his feelings away as harshly as possible, which only ended up backfiring on him.
That's so true! It's one thing that always sort of bugged me in the books, especially considering that these are cats and cats aren't known to be very monogamous. What about relationships that didn't work out? One party doesn't always need to die for the relationship to end, I would have loved to see some break-ups. Maybe some because the relationship was one-sided, unfulfilling or they fell out of love with each other... There are so many ways to write romance, but the Erins just took the same route almost every time (with the exception of Spiderleg, maybe): Two background cats are seen next to each other = POOF, kittens = mates for live xDĀ

but they kinda had the thing going with the Squirrel Bramble and Ash, but I think that was poor executed?
Like, a break up doesn't have to mean a murderous rampage, lol? Like, Squirrel was rude for just using Ash, but that doesn't excuse the intent to kill her, and 'her children'??
like, even just distrust between Ash and Squirrel. A sorta uncomfortableness on Ash's part, to be around Squirrel, Bramble, and 'her kits'. Or even, uh, a mutual agreement on just, we're not right for each other??
i dunno, there are plenty of routes to choose for a relationship, but they always just go to the same one. Each party makes changes to themselves (sometimes when they shouldn't have to) to make the relationship work. And yeah, thacts nice an all, but come on, something different would be nice!
