this was a long time coming, and I'm sorry, I was trying to keep up with school, and then I fell into a bit of a depression and didn't feel like doing much of anything... and I finally felt I had a moment to sit and complete this.I didn't really like the concept as I had absolutely no ideas for it... and couldn't find all that many fun references either. whatever.
I honestly can't decide if Quint was making a snow sculpture of Terish, or Terish made an obscene, curvaceous snowwoman to use as bait so she could ambush whoever came to grope it lol.
I imagine she yelled "hey assface!" to make him turn around which is why he looks mad- you know, other than the fact he just got hit in the neck with a slushball (ugh wet)
this was probably the incident that convinced him to grow a beard instead lol (he actually looks far more attractive with a beard, in my opinion and Terish's *rubs face against his even though it's like sandpaper*)
I also imagine that Terish and Quint are the same height, but Terish has such thick hair she appears taller, much to her husband's annoyance *fluffs her hair more to look bigger*

I love how it really does look as though Terish just zoomed out of nowhere with a blitzkrieg attack (with another shot already lined up, hopefully to land right in the kisser) - that expression needs to be repaid with something after all (it's such a great expression though, perhaps it may freeze that way and possibly improve the overall *gestures at face* thing). I also love Terish's sneaky and amused one, the assface is more glorious when slushed.
I also appreciate the snow...woman (?)'s curvaceous buttocks there. I like the notion that it was bait lol, but really I probably expect it started off that way and now Quint is making 'amendments' - you know, to make it defy the laws of nature and physics with its proportions.
I also like how their snow gear reflects their natural backgrounds, what with Terish and her greens furs, and Quint and his yellows and browns (gosh it's been forever hasn't it?)
Yes the beard would be a great idea, then the pesky snow might be repelled by his Manliness.
Terish's hair is like a lion's mane, adversaries look at it and judge that a fight is just not worth it with someone of that ultimate power (actually the beard might have been a means to counter that and offset the balance, her hair was starting to develop its own aggressive personality)

the background isn't much, I should have made some trees for her to hide in, but I just... wasn't enjoying this picture at all :T of course, I started drawing it late last night and forced myself to go to bed around 2AM... then I finished it this morning
the idea of Quint's face being permanently stuck in "stink eye" mode is kind of horrifying.
I don't really like Terish's face... not to say I drew a bad face, it just doesn't look how I imagine Terish, ya know? you've seen all those women I uploaded onto the tirellius family pinterest board, that's about what I want for her.
it gets a nice rosy glow to it after a stinging slap of wet ice crystals, and his voice has an angelic tone to it when it's yelling obscenities. Music to her ears~!
I can't imagine quint joining in, I imagine him marching off in a pissy huff.

I don't really like the color palette, it's too muted and feels dusty, but i was sort of eye balling it based off your old ref of Quint, and for Terish I just guessed lol.
she usually has it tied up, cause otherwise it's unmanageable but it's winter so she needs all the padding
I imagine all woodfolk have pretty wild hair, and the bigger the better.
honestly you could probably pull on it and she wouldn't feel anything, you'd just get sucked in like a trap.
I kind of want to see the two of them nose to nose to show off how tall she looks compared to him due to her mane.

Nah I actually don't think it needs a background, this way it looks like she may have been hiding in a snow drift lol, which is even better as she came out of nowhere. That's fine, I've had pictures I wasn't enjoying while working on, we all have those days.
At least if his face got stuck that way he'd have an excuse for his ugliness.
Ah yeah I get what you mean, though to be fair, often when we draw a character they don't turn out exactly as we'd like unless we draw them repeatedly. Though I have to admit that there's a sort of Merida quality to her here.
She sure knows how to make him so much MORE appealing.

I don't think so personally, but to make it pop you could play around with adjustment layers. I always like adding light blasts on an overlay layer to blind with colour intensity!
Lol, one day she might just wake up and he'll have been swallowed. So sad, a widow so young, oh well, maybe she'll do better with the next husband she finds (that was her plan all along). Not only does he have to worry about murder by hair, but let's not forget the bear.
Big hair is probably a sign of status, beauty, and strength in Woodfolk - even the babies have huge hair

I want to draw stuff but at the same time I don't, lately, same with writing. I just feel so uncreative, and if i don't have that, what do I have really? I sort of want to try and practice different digital coloring styles but need a decent pic to try on... and some actual tutorials I guess.

She has escape tunnels all under there so she can attack and disappear, then reappear elsewhere.
Oh I know that feeling, that's why I took a step back and told myself to just draw what I want, even if it won't be uploaded at all. Part of that feeling is due to expectation we believe others have for our art, like we need to produce something amazing. Once you get past that, you'll find yourself enjoying art more and drawing a little more too. Try it, draw something you want, not to be shared. It can be crappy as hell.
Oh I have a bunch of tutorials on Pinterest, I can share the board with you, it has some useful ones for portraits if you feel like messing around with portraiture. If I had a decent neat sketch I'd send you one to mess with but the lines are so messy it'd be confusing.
It's a Quint characteristic, ugly is as ugly does, why try to be anything else!
Maybe you could portrait practice on her, or Petrish instead if you find her more exciting.

That's exactly what I imagined, just throwing loose powder in a pathetic display. Plus it'd give her a chance to vent some frustration on him lol. Nothing like a snowball fight to show your desire.

Adjustment layers are things like 'multiply' and 'overlay' but you can also set them up to change colour intensity as an actual layer you can edit the highlights and shadows of without messing up your work.

Yes perhaps it would be a good custom, I have my central forest lands in my original fantasy stories the same custom, only it was purely a sign of shame rather than voluntary mourning.
Ah but she can see better in the dark than them, so they'd best be careful lest she decide to sneak into their goes and cut off all that lovely hair. (she'd never do it but it's still a thought!) it's something young Quint would have done!
