2/5 for my cat portrait series. Bao is our fourth cat; I found her dying outside of my apartment a few months ago after coming home from work. She was so emaciated and little; a neighbor told me that she had just been mauled by a dog so she had these horrible wounds on her neck and face.Long story short, after some tlc and good quality food she is now Queen Bao, indisputable ruler of the apartment and terrorizor of all our other cats. Sometimes we call her Baolzebub because she can be such a bully. Bao loves people and is very charming and funny, she has a meow that sounds like she has been smoking for over 30 years. I always thought it had something to do with the neck injuries she sustained.

How very majestic! I think my favourite part here is how you can just make out the scars on her neck under that pearl necklace. And that bony, drawn-out neck kind of gives her the look of one of those queenly rich African ladies with all those neck-stretching gold rings they wear. This is a proud puss indeed!
