I think it looks a lot like Mel Gibson/Mel's Wallace

I really like the way you've painted the leather, it really looks like real leather. I'm very impressed, this must have taken a lot of time and effort. and it looks exactly like the poster. You've totally captured all the details, and his expression. And gotta love that gargantuan sword

Thanks..When I first saw the movie I just had to do a painting of him..It took about 4 or 5 weeks to finish and I dont have it any more because I gave it to my dad for his 50th birthday...Also he has the replica sword to hang alongside the painting..

'mon the Scots - sorry I'm Scottish lol.

Excellent piece, it must have taken you ages. The only negative point is that it doesn't really look like Mel Gibson but that's a tiny flaw considering Mel Gibson didn't look like William Wallace.

Thanks...Looking at the photo I used for this Mels head looks to big for his body,so I shrunk it down in the painting which also makes his shoulders wider...I think the real Wallace would make mincemeat out of Mels Wallace..
I have a lot of respect for the Scots, since my ancestors were from Glasgow..so thanks for the interest..

I have yet to begin experimenting with oils... all i know is that they dry REALLY slow! lol

Experimenting is the best way when starting to use them .You will find your own way and style of using them. And it depends on what thinners you use in the oils .I use low odour thinners ...which evaporates prety quick when mixed with oils, allowing the paint to dry.
