That was tragic watcxhing her die.Β  I had dreams where i actually built a machine to help bring her back.Β  And I mean bring her back in like a "Yay! she's back!" way, not in like a, like a Pet Semetary scenario

That scene gets me every time. It's like Bambi with dinosaurs.

Well, sort of. A little more graphic than Bambi if you ask me

Ya...
But the original cut had spraying blood and such, it would have been like WaterShip Down if they didn't get told to edit out anything that was more than a U or G rating. Shame... I would love to have seen the original cut...

I thought most people knew.

The Land Before Time was shown to a group of people before it was set for advertisement on public TV, like just about every film. However, it failed the viewing because of 4 main things.
1) It was too violent
2) It exceeded the U/G rating that Universal had asked for
3) There was too much negative emotions
4) The 'terror' level was far too high

It's basically what the people who made Watership Down were told. The only difference is that the strong British film company that made it said 'So what?' and released in anyway as Bluth studios said 'OK. We'll change it.'

It's a shame really.

I don't know about that. I do believe a certain level of negative content is needed for an effective and enduring story, as my deep commitment to the Bible will attest (for just one example, try reading up on Sodom and Gomorrah sometime). As was said in Bambi 2, "For it's out of the darkness that we learn to see."
However, I have a conviction that stories worth telling generally should be made, on some level, understandable and accessable to children. Simply put, The Land Before Time was made to teach virtue. This and the fact that it predominantly featured dinosaurs made children an obvious target audience, since children are typically more interested in dinosaurs and, with few exceptions, more open to virtue. As such, it was only natural that The Land Before Time be made suitable for them. Base content, such as spattering blood and so forth, would have had no overall benefit to the plot and served only to make the film ill-suited to its ideal audience.

Depends on the context and places. No offense, but I’ve had people misuse my words in the past and learned the hard way that you can’t be too careful online. Not that I think you would, but all said and done you are a stranger. Of course a malcontent would most likely do whatever they had in mind without asking anyway, which is a point in your favor.

awesome job, wow, The Land Before Time, absolutely brilliant film, one of my all time favorites, I love the effect, and yes one memorable scene there too, but wow, just amazing, this film is very special to me because, I was born 20 years ago and this film, released November the 18th 1988, the same day I was born so it means a lot to me so yeah, just a wonderful history
