This entry is made for this contest: Original Characters At Their Best ContestThe girl is Dara, one of my OCs, and it's showing her in her unterwater world. I didn't have trouble to work out the concept and composition but it was hard to color it. And in the end, I'm very disappointed about the scan =A=''
But I still like the piece and I hope some of you like it too! c: I totally missed to draw those old Korean buildings. They are so awesome!
My boyfriend said that it didn't look like underwater but I wanted to draw a world where you couldn't say at first sight where you were. Also, the atmosphere should be serious and calm, therefore I didn't want to add any water bubbles. I used some textures from cgtextures.com on the roof of the buildings and on the shark in the front. The rest is done with fineliner and colored pencils.

This is gorgeous! I love the composition and the movement! The buildings are really well executed, and I really like the shark up front. I wish I could see this irl because I know scanners tend to suck the life out of traditional art, but this already beautiful as is.

I colored everything with hand and the water texture of the building and the shark were added with photoshop. The flowers are colored traditionally

Dara is looking very beautiful here as always! what I really like about Dara is how simple her design is yet still so gorgeous. she is such a vibrant character ;u; plus am such a sucker for characters with flowy hair~
