Great drawing! I haven't read the Ottoline series (yet) but I also love Riddell's art, especially in the Edge Chronicles!

Oooh yeah the Edge Chronicles was fantastic - so far I've only made it through Quint's saga

Quint's saga? So are you reading them chronologically or as they were published?

Oh wow, so you haven't read the final book, The Immortals, then? It's magnificent...and...oh I just remembered.... can't say til you've read it, but it's intense. It's all intense, it's just a huge onslaught of 'oh my god!' moments one after another, right until the very last page. Whatever you do, do not skip and look at the final pages!

well I just read those ones in order, then I got a little sidetracked, but after what you said I'll definitely have to get back into them ^_^ I better finish the book I'm reading now though

Make sure to read the Lost Barkscrolls too, helps fill in some little bits...
I think it would be a better idea to read them as they were written, because some interconnecting parts refer to other time periods and you might end up reading revelations about things/people and it won't be as 'shocking' (not the word I was looking for but close enough). But it probably doesn't matter that much, just the way I read it and I think it would be better that way.
You know what would be amazing? A book of just Riddell's art in the Edge Chonricles books, I would buy that instantly. I wonder where I can voice that idea?
What are you reading now?

Oh ok, shall do ^_^

I agree, he's art honestly blows my mind! did you read Fergus Crane on those books? They were really heavily illustrated by him (and written I'm pretty sure) He also did a picture book which seriously phenomenal!
I think you can find his email on his blog, I'd just send him the suggestion, authors and artists alwasy love hearing that kind of thing ^_^
And the book I'm reading now is sadly un-illustrated but very interesting - its a Bill Bryson book, called "A short history of nearly everything" very scientific, but he has a wiked sense of humour ^_^

Sorry for late reply.

Haven't read Fergus Crane or Ottoline but I've been meaning to, I've got them in my browser's favourites in a folder 'Stuff I need to buy'.
Picture book?

Cool, I'm gonna try and contact him and suggest an art book, I'm sure it would sell. Interestingly I have emailed Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell when I was much younger, when I first read the Twig books, and I got a reply from them, a signed cover sleeve for Vox which hadn't come out then and a character drawn by Riddell, it was amazing. So they do listen to their emails.

Hmm, interesting, I like Science and comedy and I just read a synopsis of it on amazon, looks good, I'll add it to my 'to buy' list!

No worries at all ^_^

haha - I have a "stuff I need to buy list" too, I actually have a few - one with just books I need to buy

That is awesome about what happened when you sent you letters to Stewart and Riddell! Do you still have everything they sent you?

Let me know what you think of the Bryson book when you get to it ^_^

Yeah, my To Buy folder is then sorted into DVD's, Clothing, Books, Music, Games, Figures/toys and Other...I'll never have enough money for it all, sigh...

Yeah, I still have it all in the envelope they sent me, at home in a box filled with books (Moved around for a while, still a lot of stuff unpacked for various reasons). I thought it was so awesome that I'd even get a reply, let alone all that amazing stuff, shows how totally rad they are.

Shall do!
