Description
Admetus was famous for its hospitality and sense of justice. When married Alcestis, Admetus forgot to pay the offering to the goddess Artemis, which made his bridal chamber to be filled with snakes. Admetus was bitten and began to slowly die until Alcestis prayed to the gods to take her in her husband's place. Admetus was unhappy and guilty because he could not live knowing he was only alive because of his wife's death, that he loved so much. When Thanatos (the angel of death) came to take Alcestis, Heracles could not let a couple so in love died so soon. Heracles fought against death, literally. Thus, the gods could not refuse that they were really loved people and allowed Alcestis remain in the mortal world next to Admetus, her beloved husband.

Absolutely love your colours, composition, style... two points in particular I really like are the textures on the hair and feathers. It's a really sublime style - so rich. There's a lot going on but it doesn't feel overcrowded.
I'm also a really big fan of classical mythology - but I haven't heard of Admetus before! Thanks for adding the story to your caption.

That is really nice. The whole piece gives off a decrepit feeling, and the death in Alcestis' eyes is terrifying. She is also really well positioned and draws the viewers focus by being the brightest color in the piece.

I like the resemblance to a Pieta, any image of of Mary holding Jesus after he is removed from the crucifix, and the uses of Greek mythology in this kind of composition is a great change of pace. It also looks like you put a lot of thought into this piece. Thanks for the interesting description.

wow your drawing totally sparked my mind and made me think "Is this really a authentic drawing printed on the marble titling in a roman church , or has it been another angel that helped you drew this". The shadowing shading also blew my mind to space literally ! but enough thousand words to describe how much i love you piece and say this , i really love this artwork !!
