I I really like your vision, as it gives me an idea of Paris life, which makes me guess that you are probably from Europe, since this is the first of your artwork that I have ever seen. The technique is the best, as I've never seen strokes like this before, and it has a decent impact as it portrays, again what I am guessing, Paris. The originality is the least scored because I feel like I am looking at a painting by Vincent van Gough, specifically the Starry Night painting. I presume that he is an inspiration? I would offer this criticism probably for your other artwork, but overall, stunning!

P.S. This is my first critique, so it may not be the best anyone can gain.

This piece is one of the most impressive I've seen yet when it comes to color choice. Even more so; its traditionally done.

My only issue with the picture is that I can't tell what is what without looking a little closely at the picture itself, nothing wrong with that because it allows me to interpret the picture a little more and try to make my own interpretation of what I feel from the picture itself.

My focus is drawn to the lone figure with an umbrella over his head. When you look at him, the entire focus of the picture becomes more clear. It's like walking down the street after the rain has stopped, and what we're seeing in the image is the many lights being reflected off the streets after being saturated in rain.

But who knows, it could be a river. I can't clearly tell. But again, its pictures like these that I love because many people can interpret this differently. The Balance in Cool and Warm colors is really something.

To conclude, this is a very well done piece. My only complaint is that I wish I knew what is clear, and what isn't. But it could be intentional. Which is fine because no matter what is being shown here. This is eye candy in every way.

I really have to thank you for your ability to use a wide variety of colors. Its one of the most beautiful traditional pieces I've seen.

Where to begin with this piece, haha. First off I love the colors used in this painting, it helps with the mood and almost realistic projection to the mind, secondly I love how the brush strokes are a way to not only give detail but shape the picture as well. It works with the illusion that it is raining especially in the reflection aspect. I like that for stationary objects like the light poles, you use regular brush stroke to help it stand out from the rest of the painting which also helps with the illusions of movement. I love the rain and would love to be in one of your paintings, it looks so peaceful and beautiful!

the colors in this are really vibrant! it has a certain quality to the work, and makes the scene look quite energetic and busy, despite the fact that nothing is going on. i also love the textured look of the layered paint, good job on that. the technique worked out really well!

my only complaint with this is the buildings. i feel like the blending with that went too far, as they are blending too far into the sky and leaves me second guessing on where/if the building ends and the sky starts. though that's just personal preference.

aside from that, everything looks great!

I really like the technique you used to paint this piece of art! Especially the sky and the bush on the left have caught my attention. I like it how you mixed the cold of the blue with the warmth of the red tones in the sky. The three blue lights of the street lamp in the foreground are the first thing my eyes went to as I took a look at this picture. Although the blue light has quite the coldest impact in this picture, you managed it to make it fit into the whole scenery really well.

Another thing fascinating me is the reflection of the lights on the water - it is very realistic. It took me quite a while to realise there is also a man with an umbrella - he fits into the whole situation perfectly I think. I think it is good you only added him, because that supports the impact of the picture. If you would have added more humans, this positive effect would have been destroyed I suppose.

I´m a little irriated that all the other street lamps in the background have a normal light compared to the blue one in the foreground. I wonder if there is an intention behind it?

To begin, I really like this piece. The color scheme is very unique, and I enjoy the way you range from very very light to very very dark--it adds depth, and it makes the piece more interesting. The texture is great too! Obviously the medium you chose will have distinct qualities, and you brought these qualities out and showcased them. Your experience with oils is easily seen in the way everything sort of bleeds together, but at the same time objects and lines are easy to distinguish. The placement of the scene is well done too. The street follows the rule of thirds, and so does the building.

The feelings I get when I look at this are calm and serene. Even though there's a fair amount to look at, and there are a variety of colors in a variety of shades and tints, it's easy to take it all in because of the way you managed to make it all fit together. Each part of the piece complements another, and that sort of harmony makes for a very well put together painting.

The only thing I can think of to suggest is for future pieces, choose a subject or a motif that delivers more of a message. While this one says things like "calm, serenity, harmony", you have the skill to create something that might say something that could have a heavier impact on your audience. Maybe even something controversial! Everyone has their comfort zone, and maybe, it could be a neat learning experience to jump outside of the proverbial box.

This is a very beautiful & vibrant painting! The colors are what immediately caught my attention; they are rich, bright and, bizarre as it may seem, delicious.

Your brushing style is evident. What I liked about it that you did not use one method of brush-stroking, which gives the painting life.

You have turned a normal dull rainy day into a colorful masterpiece of life. One can honeslty say you have given the term "rainy day" a whole different meaning.

I am a painter myself but I still have a long way to go. You have inspired me to do my best to awaken my true inner art.

I commend you on a job well done!

This is so great, The Color is so playful, it made the Painting looked very colorful, you really got a hang with the wet road things, it really looked wet and the shading is perfect, while the style of your painting is so original and so creative :3 from my point of view, this is so great. not great, but perfect. and which I love the most is your painting style, and the wet road effect. the detail is good too, keep up your painting style and your detail! maybe just this, and yeah I Love this so much, this is very eye catching!! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

First, let me say I love your work. Your style inspires me with your attention to form and gorgeous fluidity with colour. The two lone figures walking in opposite directions elicit and emote a feeling of peaceful solitude, for example a walk one might take to clear one's mind.

One area which drew my attention was the light cast by the lamps on the right side of the painting. In the foreground they cast an orange glow on the red building, but as they recede into the distance the glow of the lights appears to remain the same strength and size rather than diminishing. I might have expected to see a greater deal of red in the building further in the distance, so maybe there is too much light reflecting on the red building.

I cannot say enough about your command of perspective. Beautiful. It is very easy to fall into this painting and imagine myself in this world. I also like the windows and variety of colour with which you painted them, as one can imagine a diversity of people dwelling within and going about their routines. This painting has a quiet life which is quite brilliant considering your choice of pallet.

A masterpiece of skilled use of hot colors transitioning to cool tones. The bright colours of the foreground buildings and streets perfectly compliment the darker blues and purples that make up the night sky and background. I almost imagine a musical jazz number coming to life when I look at this work. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/> e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h… " width="15" height="13" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="357" title="Heart"/>

This is definitely a piece of art any serious art collector or fan would want in their personal galleries- both on Deviant Art and in real life. I also have not seen such realistic figures in quite some time.

To the artist who created this beautiful work: Please continue with your paintings. Your work is something I feel that DA needs more of in the future.

"Blue Lights" is a stunning work, and a beautiful display of an oil painting, as gracefully and wonderfully created by Leonidafremov. Abstract and impressionistic, "Blue Lights" entails (obviously) a blue light, a street light, as the primary focus on a path with a few people painted along the street. Beautifully and painterly composed, "Blue Lights" is a delicate and astounding piece, and an example of a master in his craft.

Utilizing color to create value, Leonidafremov used numerous hues in various shades and tints to create an abstract piece with a realistic impression. The piece is almost alive and breathing, and extremely impressive. Leonidafremov was able to create lights' reflections on the road (which makes the road appear wet, as also implied by the man with an umbrella), as well as textures in trees to the far left side of the piece. The sky as painted is also extremely beautiful, as well as the building to the right side of the painting. Leonidafremov also painted in dashes and short strokes, which established movement to further the idea of breathing life within the painting.

Ultimately, "Blue Lights" is a gorgeous piece, gorgeously composed. I have a personal bias for oil paintings (it is my favorite medium), so examining Leonidafremov's piece only makes me love oil paintings even more, and I hope that with experience, I may also master oil painting, just as Leonidafremov has as displayed by this work. 5/5 stars, absolutely stunning.
