I tried to capture the sweeping, melodramatic feeling of the novel. The love between Catherine and Heathcliff stands out in stark contrast to the desolate landscape. The tree is completely weather-beaten and storm-blown like the characters.

This was originally going to be a much darker piece, with Heathcliff dressed as a gentleman looming over the house, plotting; for compositional reasons I chose to add Catherine and make it a romance scene, hence the "My Little Pony"-coloured sunset. Since it turned out so differently from what I had originally envisioned, I actually hated it in the beginning, but it's starting to grow on me.

The gnarly ground was a LOT of fun to do. The house is actually based off of the building that was supposedly Emily Bronte's original inspiration for "Wuthering Heights" (the house from the novel).
