Description The subject of my second photo taken at The Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum is one of the 14 fiberglass prehistoric animal statues that were created by sculptor Elbert H. Porter in the early 60s and have been the museum's pride and joy since 1978*. More specifically, it's one of the several sauropod genera that once roamed the Late Jurassic plains and forests around Vernal (and Utah in general) in vast herds and which some paleontologists are now speculating may have had turtle-like beaks:

*Prior to that, they were initially displayed as "Dinosaur World" at Porter's studio in or near Salt Lake City not long after being completed. Later in the decade, they were moved to "Dinosaur Safari" in West Yellowstone, Montana, a park that remained open until the early 70s when they were moved to Orderville, Utah. There, they were displayed at "Dinosaurland" until 1976 before finally being purchased by the state of Utah the following year for the field house.
