Very detailed. I'm afraid to think how long it took. This is terrifyingly gory but that's war for you. I actually found the White King to be very comical because he's about to get stabbed in the heart and he's just so calm and reposed a.k.a. badass. There are so many characters and small elements that I have to keep staring around to see them all. Great job creating something that keeps the viewer busy and searching for awhile. The architecture in the background looks stunning but it does seems like they are fighting in a cathedral. Someone Catholic might find that offending. The window at the far right is crooked. There are some areas in the drawing that are prominent but lack shadows so that they appear flat like the black bishop's shoulders and the vaulted ceilings. I just don't get any impression of depth when I look at it, but still a fantastic piece. Thank you for submitting it to our contest.

Oh... amazing. Truly incredible.
It is not only well drawn - impressively so - but also very thoughtful with the details. I love it - you brought the chess pieces to life, while at the same time managing to visualize the story. The white knight, who (I take it) went down protecting his king from the vicious claws of the black dame, but for no avail in the end, as the white king is cornered by knight and bishop...
It is amazing. So dramatic, so heartbreaking!
I love the quite dignity of the white king. He looks like someone with real character. I am grieving for him and his troops...

i'm not partial to this particular style but jesus this is amazing. i've never seen a picture capable of creating so much tension as if it were an actual scene from a movie. bravo, man.
