This is the fourth installment of a series of cards that I have created starring the "Cat Lady" in different operatic roles. This is Verdi's "Aida".
See the Wikidpedia entry for the 1871 Opera here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aida
The events of Aida are loosely based on the 25th Dynasty of ancient Egypt (760-656 BCE). This is the period of the Kushite Empire in which African kings from Nubia subjugated Egypt. In the opera Aida is identified as an Ethiopian princess. For historic accuracy she should have been Nubian.
There has also been a Broadway musical called "Aida" that was scored by Elton John and Tim Rice.
Next: "The Magic Flute".
