Unfortunately Sylvia passed away on 1/8/2021. She was a very gentle and old hen, she enjoyed hanging out with Cindy Plopper, Legs, Blondie, and Poppy-Seed, as well as Black-Rose that had passed away several weeks prior. She liked to hang out under the olive tree and eat treats,she also enjoyed sleeping by Poppy-Seed every night. I am not sure why she passed away, but I found her on her side barely breathing, so I gently picked her up and held her,. Unfortunately she was very sleepy and wasn’t improving then she passed away. I wish that I could have done more for her, but I also know that I tried hard and did everything that I could. Her favorite treats were sunflower seeds, vegetables, and meal worms. I will always remember how she loved her cute little chicken saddle/apron, how she liked to sleep near Poppy-Seed, how she would occasionally surprise me by jumping up on the metal garbage cans that I put their feeders in before I put the chickens to bed, how every now and then she would jump up on the nesting boxes to sleep with the other chickens, and our wonderful adventure where she took a ride in the wagon to visit the neighbors. We will always love you Sylvia and I am sure that you and Black-Rose are enjoying heaven together.
