For some reason your 'Event' series is deeply moving. I've chosen this for the warmth and subtlety of the colours. You make the kind of surfaces I like to photograph. Thank you for favouring Not Waving But Drowning, which is a recent example. It's been heavily 'enhanced' in Photoshop of course. I am working on a series all based on the whitewashed windows of the derelict Leslie Arms public house near where I live.

You're welcome, it works the other way around for me, you photograph the kind of surfaces I like to create on the canvas. Thank you very much for saying my work is 'deeply moving', I appreciate you feeling from my work and saying so very much! I love 'whitewash' and have always been attracted to the wealth of substance there which may not be so obvious but is definitely as fulfilling as any other palette. Good luck with the series, I'm looking forward to seeing them.

no, you're not too open
others are too closed
it lasted a few years
with people who were too closed.

Lovely depiction, simple yet deep. I see a group of upright humanoids & a single person (appears to be standing on his head) separated by a wall all of them surrounded by frost.

Thank you so much, what a great eye you have! So interesting to hear a more descriptive experience from someone, thanks!

Yes, it is odd..that very few people on this site really make worthwhile comments, statements or critiques.....usually it's just "cool" or "pretty". Which is great for those that don't speak the same language as you & they are trying to communicate their joy in the piece but for the ones that do know that language & who claim to be artists, it leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe we are all just narcissists...& cannot fully appreciate other peoples art.
I try to really look at pieces, but it wears me out...esp. when some people add large amount of pictures everyday. For the moment i have stopped adding people to my watch list, but I do go back over all those sites I have faved things.

Well put...I paint, then I come here and I look at tons of stuff and stay as focused as I can on really -looking-, but I know that feeling when you start to get a bit burned out with it. I've also stopped adding people unless it's someone really amazing.
Thing is, I had such a hard journey 'making it' as a full time artist that if I see a glimmer of talent or a really good idea I can't help myself from encouraging.
So, thanks again for your descriptive interpretation, I stand by the idea that the painting is it's own thing after I have made it and whatever the audience sees is between them and the painting...but it's really interesting feedback when someone is a little bolder with their interpretation.
I think people should be bold about how they look at art. Most of the time they seem scared to express what they feel/see for fear of somehow being wrong!?!
