When you think about it, the way Wheatley was wired into GLaDOS was an immensely intimate thing. He was literally wired into her brain, talking right into the centre of her consciousness. He spoke and she couldn't help but listen. He was inside her, both physically and mentally, distorting her actions and thinking with his every impulse.
