Yes, Kajsa, this is for you.A couple of days ago, I remembered exactly what Christmas break means to the two of us, and exactly what that Christmas break two years ago meant to me.
We talked for days. I still didn't know why you added me on MSN, and I still thought that you had hit your head or something considering the fact that you seemed to want to talk to me, but what I did know was that you were there. Every day.
That's how it all started, right? Or at least when things started to grow.
That Christmas break changed my life - without any doubt - and I thought that it was time to celebrate that now.
So yes... here you go. A picture to celebrate that Christmas break, the hours in front of the computer where we talked and talked... A picture to celebrate us.
Now... this is the last picture of 2008 for me, and none could suit better. This doesn't only show what I've learned during the past year, but what is to come during the next.
This is one of my best pictures ever.
I apparently kicked my own ass again.
This took a lot from me. Time, effort, concentration, love and... well... it was worth it. I'm probably going to have a nervous breakdown soon, but I am so incredibly proud that I managed this.
It's done from scratch in Photoshop and without a line art. I never thought that I would manage that.
The character, by the way, is Kajsa's ( ~Himyaviewen ) and his name is Akira. He is a demon in a roleplay she and I have, and no, he doesn't normally wear these clothes, it's just me freaking out...
But... it does give ideas... don't you think Kajsa?
So... yeah.
This picture is special to me, and I hope that it will be to you too Kajsa.
BUT, you are SO not getting Gift Arts from me for several MONTHS x'D You should be able to survive on this one for a whole year
I... am very proud.

Working without a lineart is definitely a huge step forward, and I'm amazed by the pace of the challenges you pick up and defeat.
The things I love about this picture are some of the details, or minor parts:
- the transparent curtain which looks so real and light, moving with the breeze
- the soft shading on Akira's face
- that strand of hair that crawles over the beads around his waist; I don't know why but I find it adorable
- and most of all, the colours of his kimono make me speechless. You made the blue and purple hues blend in such a way that it looks like those shiny fabrics that change colours depending on your point of view, it even looks slightly fluorescent; I could look at that part on his left shoulder for hours and still be amazed.
All in all, you have a reason to be proud

I really like the strands of hair over the beads too >_> It's one of my favourite details 
And when it comes to the kimono, it was actually somewhat cheating with layer options, but I like it too. When I noticed that it looked like one of those fabrics that you mentioned, I just had to keep it, even if it did turn out a bit more purple than I had first intended (it's not like I really complain over purple stuff in my pictures
So... yeah.

There's nothing like "cheating with layer options" when you did it yourself, is it? Let's say you learned something new by accident
The "not wanting to ruin it" fear I know, too. It's a reason I don't dare to even start many pictures, or finish them in one go. Just now I have a picture in mind (no characters again, darn it
The result is that I managed to sketch one figure of two, didn't manage on the second, and I'm hesitant to touch it and try again ever since...
But nothing comes of it if we don't try, right? *sigh*
