Description (gonna just drop this here for a bit before I scrap it)

It's been way too long since I did one of these.... This thing is way too long

Numbers are a little scattered as I decided to number them thematically first, then by appearance on the page. (anything that looks awkwardly cut off by another picture isn't. I ran out of paper)

--

1-6: I went and did it... created a vampire character. Though to be honest, it's more whacked out scifi than anything, as 'vampires' are technically non-coporeal, blood borne parasites in this rendition (which is part of the problem. It's too much fun of an idea to play with for me to drop) They're not dead (though most times the human host technically is), and they don't need blood to survive, rather they have a strong urge to ingest human blood as a way of 'purging' their own blood of the parasite. Except it doesn't work, and eventually drives them insane, from which there is no return and the others of their race usually end up having to kill them to keep the peace. Hey, at least they don't sparkle?

This guy is Misha, he was turned at 18 or 19, but is really about 26 or so, but he's still a newborn in the eyes of the rest of his race. He still considers himself human, though he's never quite sure what he is, and he lives apart from the rest of his race. He hasn't decided what to do with his life, and mostly just lazes around reading rather indiscriminately and eating junk food even more indiscriminately just cause he can. He gets his flippant disregard for establishments and his somewhat snarky attitude from his sire. (most memories of the blood-borne are passed on in 'reproduction' as the new parasite is literally the clone of the sire) His sire is a story in itself and would take up far too much space to go into here.

2 - all vampires under go some (painful) physical modification upon infection. Some may or may not develop tails (which may or may not even make it out of these preliminary plotting stages) Why? Because- Shut up.

4 - Misha, eating a twinkie with flippant disregard for your behavioral expectations. Also, Misha flipping out and about to f*ing suck someone dry. You do not want to see him like this. ever.

5 - Eye studies. Vampire pupils are slits, and capable of opening vertically and horizontally, depending on their emotional state. If they open both ways at once, it means they've lost it, are in bloodlust, and you're about to die of blood loss with a possible side of mangling.

6- Vampires are quite athletic. Someday, I will draw pictures like these at normal size with all the glorious details instead of the size of a quarter...

7-10: Yiron , the Tarvalian, also my bonafide originally mary-sue, self-insert character from my teens. He's no longer a self-insert, as I both learned to make fun of him and that I didn't really want to be him anyway. He still kicks some serious ass and holds a special place in my heart tho. He also looks alarmingly like Peter Facinelli (aka Carlisle Cullen (Why, God? WHYYYYYYY??))

7 - Yiron is . . . a bit of a lush. He's also a bit of a flirt- but only when he's not serious about it. Sorry, ladies, if Yiron's flirting with you, you pretty much don't have a chance. Also, working on designing the Tarvalian traditional garb, the kama, though Yiron's a bad test subject as he wears... really fancy clothing that doesn't necessarily conform to tradition. Did I mention he's also a bit of a fop?

8 - More kama design, more me practicing drawing him based off of reference pictures of Peter Facinelli (I guess watching that Twilight Rifftrax was good for something, even if it was excruciatingly painful...)

9 - Yiron's colors, and his trademark smirk.

10 - Yiron from the side. I've been practicing his design, okay? Also, I've been missing him lately, but I've been too busy to read back through his draft, so this is my substitute for reading/writing him.

11-12: Siegfrid , the (most likely crazy) prince. Working on trying to figure out how to draw his face and on his clothing design. Also, I discovered he kind of looks like (a photoshopped?) Adam Lambert. What the hell....

13: One of *beastofoblivion 's epictacious Locks , in quad form this time, cause I got the random, strong urge to draw a quad form lock from above. I should really color this and make a proper fanart out of it for her instead of jamming it into a ginormous sketch dump

14: I actually started reading the Naruto manga earlier this year (I've been on hiatus for several months tho waiting for it to build back up enough so I can read it in a nice chunk). I enjoyed it a whole lot more than I thought it would (though I still maintain the author cannot write a strong female character to save his life) Gaara is by far and away by favorite... though I got sick of this drawing after awhile (his left arm sucks) and never got around to finishing it. Maybe I will someday...

15: Axel! I was really proud of this back in the day. I dunno why I never finished it. I need to give this guy some proper fanart one of these days : /

16: Possible design for the main character of a yet another one of my stories. I'm not gonna say much about this one here as it'd take up way too much space. It's high fantasy / steampunk with a massive amount of world building and countless races (hence the massive world building). It will likely be a series, and have the greatest count of main characters I've ever written...

17-18: One of those main characters, based off an old character I shared with ~Lupina24 back in the day before I figured out I kind of suck at coauthoring stories. He's a smartass, streetwise thief, who's always been blonde in my mind, and I decided to retain his original ability of being able to shape-shift into a black cobra, though I ended up integrating into his race, the animus who are each (surprise!) capable of shifting form into a single animal. Their social structure is based upon both color and the type of animal, and Sevrin is unlucky enough to both have the color black and the form of a snake, making him effectively an outcast from his entire race (they'd kill him otherwise as the perceived manifestation of evil). Beneath his cocky exterior and fierce competitiveness, lies a deep insecurity and the fear that he really is worthless after all.

18 - This was originally me playing around with a 'half-shifted' form (which may or may not end up in the story), but the pointy ears and black markings on his face are all but integrated into his racial design. They're also short, which makes it kind of funny when the other guy ends up taking on their form (MASSIVE SPOILERS OH CRAP) Just ignore that *cough*

19-22: I don't remember if I ever officially introduced this guy to DA... Some info on him was up on my personal website for awhile, before it got taken down due to moving hosts and I've been too lazy to put it back up as I want to overhaul the whole site anyway. Suffice it to say, he's from a story about dragons (no, really?) He's the only one of the seven capable of taking human form, due to his aspect. In the story, he serves as the sole ally of the humans after the other dragons turn on them. He's the nicest, most caring guy you'll ever meet, and he kicks ass. He's also a dragon. Rawr.

19-21 - Slowly working out Tak's dragon-design. I know what I want his design to evoke (elegance, mystery, restraint of power, the unknown) while only really knowing his design needs to be 'long' and not like a traditional dragon. As someone who doesn't draw dragons a lot, this has proven really hard, but I'm starting to get somewhere finally O_o. I'll probably refine his body/head design some more (his wings and tail have been decided since his creation).

22 - Tak's human form, with his default expression. God, I love that guy...

23-25: At some random point, I decided to do a story about a nix, in this case a water spirit. It's my own take on the myth, set in a world where Nixies are actually part of the body of water they live in, unable to exist apart from it, and taking their personality from it. In a sense, they are part of the body of water, but they are not actually it. The lake, pond, river, etc. is more than them, just as it is more than the water that runs through it and the channel in which it flows. Unlike the merfolk of the sea (which are actual creatures (technicallly classified as fae), nix have three forms, an aquatic form, a 'mer' form, and a human form), as well as a form made entirely of their water.

23 - Nix (as he is called) in his mer form, though technically he's only half there as the rest of him is water. Unlike my Atlantean race (see Vishu below), their gills are in their chest. They also look far more fishy in this form, and are incapable of breeding. Nix is a river nix, from a stretch of wild rapids, which makes him a bit wild. This is from early in his story, when his river is still at full power, hence his hair sticking up.

24 - Nix's aquatic form is a yellow white unagi with a mean bite.

25: Nix's merform is a combination of his human form and his unagi form. His human form's default clothing is a half robe sort of thing that mirrors his unagi tail (and in accordance with nixie legends, is always wet at the hem)

26: Wait, what? Is that a real person? Is that who I think it is? Shut up. I had the sudden urge to draw an actual existing human being in my style to see if I could pull it off, that's why. Oh, just shut up.

27: This guy is called Vulture. He doesn't have a real name, not that he remembers. He's a cyborg... hitman, I guess, for a crime mogul in a futuristic, space age society. Reanimated from the dead, maybe an AI, capable of teleportation and a lot of other badass stuff, with a bizarre, flippantly snarky attitude too, Vulture is awesome, chaotic, and feared throughout galactic civilization. He is also the first character I've ever made based on a song, though he ended up actually being based on three. The original spark for the idea came from Liquid Stranger's Rocket Fuel, but he's named after Pendulum's The Vulture and also based off the common denominator those two share with Verbing the Noun by BassNectar.

28-32: This guy is from one of my odder stories... His name is Merrick, but he's also known as the 'Virus'. He's the first actual computer based lifeform known to exist. The code his life essences is based on has yet to be cracked, though he interfaces with other computer code effortlessly. He is capable of growing and learning, absorbing code and modifying it to suit his needs; he is also capable of infecting other systems with copies of himself, hence the Virus thing. If I had to give him a D&D classification, he's a bit of a chaotic neutral, but really, that's the humans' fault. The only thing that keeps him from being chaotic evil is one particular human that actually views him as a person...

28 - a tiny sketch of a very transformed Merrick shooting something well jetting around with his feet/back rockets.

29: Merrick is capable of transforming most of his body into various guns and bladed weaponry (also rockets). He's constantly upgrading his arsenal, as well as the sheer number of weaponry he can manifest at one time.

30: Merrick's default costume, a hold over from his previous 'occupation'. He keeps it because it doesn't get in the way of his transformations. He also probably keeps it as a reminder of what he's been through at the hands of the humans. (yes, his skin is gray)

31 - Merrick casually transforming one of his hands into a gun. He develops a bit of a superiority complex. He's also rather bitter, though, he has every reason to be after what's been done to him....

32 - Merrick's eyes are normally an odd, pupiless gray, but when his real personality takes over, they turn green, deep, swirly, and downright weird. The idea is something that is rather creepy, appears to be looking into your soul, and looks endless in and of itself. This is my pathetic attempt to convey that in a pencil sketch.

33: Someday, I'm going to write a story about a pair of monster-hunting linguists who record fairy tales (based off their
monster-hunting escapades) on the side. It will be awesome. It will also likely be in German.

34: I drew this forever ago, shortly after the movie came out actually. Are we seeing a trend here?

35: Can't decide whether to post this on it's own or not (I see a recurring theme to this sketch dump). More cyberpunk fluff . Cause I LIKE it. SO THERE.

36: A character from the first real (read: not fanfic) story I started writing, though the story itself would be almost entirely unrecognizable now. Practicing aging a face, really, and this story is the perfect trial, as the characters exist both as teenagers and as 20 somethings.

37: Main character from the book I have written and am working on getting published. I don't draw him a lot, but I got the urge to. He's been through a lot and is actually quite old, and it's taken it's toll on him.

38: Daniel, one of my old characters. I drew him a few times back in the day, and after seeing Brave, I really wanted to give him another go. He's a druid in a very celticky themed story, left-handed, exceptionally good with the sword, and even better with a flute. I'd write that story soon except I still can't. figure. out. how. it. ends. (or even what the bad guys are actually after, oops)

39: Michael and Niki . They're two completely different characters from completely different stories, but Niki is based on a (slightly out of character) dream I had about Michael once. They also a look a little similar (same haircut), so I've always wanted to draw them side by to side to show the comparison. Also, Michael would hate Niki for some of the decisions he's made. Which amuses me to no end, since Niki was originally based off him

40: Speaking of those decisions.... Niki is part of one massive con, posing as a pop singer for the sole purpose of gaining access to an exclusive venue where a certain machine is kept that his life is tied to... He doesn't much enjoy it, but he pulls it off pretty damn well. Unfortunately, as he's not that great of a singer or guitarist, he ended up having to play the role of a sensationalist pop singer under the guidance of the remarkably insane designer and manager, Crow. No one would be able to guess he's really the renowned mercenary-special agent, X... which is exactly the way he wants it.

41: Thunderhawk, who's real name is Diago, is a b*tch to draw, mostly because he's supposed to look 17. He's really over 300, though no one knows by how much. Yes, it's a sore point for him. Also, he's really a bird (techinically, he's a shapeshifter, but the bird is his base form)

42: Vishu , sans tatts. I have a really good mental image of this guy, but for some reason I can't seem to draw him right. This one is closer than most. Thunderhawk is from the same story as him.

43-48: Drawings from one of my scifi novels (and one of my favorites), The Traveler. I was working on this one for Nanowrimo last year, and really need to get back to writing it...

43 - I should probably post this as it's own drawing... hell, I should really color it, it's certainly good enough. No idea why I haven't, I guess I just don't want to take the time? Anyway, this is Skip, he's the um, main character of- oh hell, I'm not going to play around. My DA account is already spoiler city anyway. He's really Kael. When he figures this out, it sends him into a bit of a tailspin, and given his natural proclivities, he tries to handle it all by himself- it doesn't go so well, and eventually, he breaks down, drinks an entire bottle of Jack Daniels, figures out he's incapable of getting drunk, and ends up calling up his (not) girlfriend just because he misses her so much he can't stand it anymore. D'awww... (also, he's British)

44 - Kael . Just a sketch, but I really like this one. His face undergoes some flex when I draw him, but if there's ever any question, this is what he looks like (his hair does vary quite a bit though. Living as long as he has and keeping the same haircut the entire time would be really... lame, and possibly a symptom of a mental disorder (though he does have plenty of those))

45-47 - Working on fleshing out the teeron design, one of the races from the Traveler. They've always been kind of a mix of cat and wolf, though I was thinking about it recently, and as they're arboreal creatures, it would make sense that they had a bit of monkey in there two. That's what 47 is about, which was actually drawn after 45, though I kind of like 45 better (though it feels a tad cartoony to me).

48 - Kael goes through a lot of shit. Sometimes I start feeling kind of guilty. Sometimes I just want to give the guy a big hug, even though he really doesn't like being touched. For some reason I haven't quite figured out yet, whenever I draw myself, I seem to end up as a 4' tall midget cat thing wearing an Organization XIII coat. I'm short, yes, but not that short.

I personally hate twinkies, but the thought of a vampire with a kitchen only stocked with various little debbie snack incarnations was too hilarious to pass up
Not a fan myself either, just Twinkies in general are cool. Just not for eating. And yea that is funny, especially if they compare the creamy centers to humans.

Thanks. I love Tak's wings too. Man, I really need to do a whole sketchdump on him and the other 6 dragons. They all have different elements and different designs. It's a bit daunting, but it'll be so awesome :3 Besides, Tak's just awesome period
I'd love to see a Dragon dump someday Tak dose seem awesome

You haven't seen How to Train Your Dragon? You must! It's awesome!
Yea people keep telling me its good and I need to see it... is this a running theme with me...

hmm, not quite sure what you mean, unless it's the strappy part (which is bulging cause it's a little loose) but I may just not be seeing it.
The part where her skin is bulging out from where her shorts end and her leggings begin is sticking out a bit much, might look better if its reduced a bit.

Thanks! I'm trying to figure it out, but it's certainly a lot of work. I haven't even gotten anywhere near close yet with Reload and Plus's younger selves
your doing great keep at it~

aww, thanks :3 and yes you helped. I'm actually working on a short with him and William back in the olden days, which I can throw your way (now or when it's complete- whichever you prefer)
Now please

lol, who are these (henchmen 1&2) referring now?
You said " I'd write that story soon except I still can't. figure. out. how. it. ends. (or even what the bad guys are actually after, oops)" well every bad guy needs henchmen :3

lol yeah. Kael drunk... that's a terrifying thought I really should finish it, yes.
Yes, yes you should

Yup. Oh God, Kael with the Bieber He might actually do it though (for a few minutes) just to get a rise out of someone
Oh god o.o

Haha, yeah... though I really am too short here. Kael's like 6'2", but still... I'm pretty sure I'd be taller than that
good point, i'm 6'2'' myself and you only come up to mid chest~ you do have the coat

You have more patience and perseverance than I do when it comes to drawing and the Twilight series (got through eight chapters before the horrid fluff made me surrender).

Yiron looks awesome with how much character and multifaceted you put in.

The animal studies with the Teeron, hawk, Sev's snake form and Toothless (hugs the dragon) are just amazing. Well done.

The Brothers Grimm is my favorite. I like it.

Haha, I've never actually read it (oh God, the thought makes me cringe) but I watched the rifftrax for the first movie at a friend's house. It was really funny, but not enough to overcome the strong need to purge my mind afterward. I also discovered the actor who plays Carlisle Cullen looks almost exactly like Yiron I'm still a bit traumatized...

Ah Yiron. I've bene having fun drawing him lately, especially with the aforementioned discovery of a handy reference >_>

I'm glad you like all the animal studies, I'm trying to get better at drawing (and designing) animals, so I'm glad they're looking good.

Glad you like the Brothers Grimm too, I'm going to have so much fun with them! I've already got a lot of their personalities figured out, which I had a fun time trying to convey in the drawing of them. It'll be awhile on that one though... gonna take a lot of research, even if it is mostly fantasy.

I've never seen the movie. You've not read the book. I'm not certain who's more unfortunate. I still need my life refunded those two weeks wasted.

Heh, sounds like you're having fun with Yiron.

Not a problem. Credit should be given when progress and good work are evident.

I could tell you had their personalities figured out, they look like polar opposites or a paradox. Yeah, research is one of the best tools for any artist/writer. Thank goodness for the internet and libraries.

Light-Tracer In reply to Lupina24 [2012-07-30 04:43:19 +0000 UTC]

Yeah me either... at least my pain was only two hours or so and punctuated with rifftrax, but still, ugh.

Glad you could see their personalities in the one drawing I've done of them, that's pretty awesome. They both share an obsession with linguistics, but otherwise are pretty different

Thank God for the internet, yes, though I still do kind of hate research except in small bursts. Too much college, I guess? I dunno... but it certainly makes stories like this slow in forming.

We will never speak of that atrocity to literature and film again, so we may hope to forget it. Agreed?

Really? I love doing research for writing. It's probably my second favorite part of the writing process. Either I'm a voracious learner, easily inspired, or just that boring. Yeah, I guess the research can bog down the story's progress if you need to go back and double check/verify info.

Light-Tracer In reply to Lupina24 [2012-07-30 15:14:03 +0000 UTC]

Agreed. I'm perfectly fine with that.

And loving research doesn't make you a boring person, it's just means you're more patient with your pursuit of knowledge than someone like me who gets bored too easy. It also means you could probably make it through grad school if you wanted I'm sure you find all sorta of fascinating stuff out too!

I doubt I could make it through grad school, the pressure and tight paced schedule would kill me. It is good to hear some validation that I'm probably not boring.

Time paradox!
- also not sure what this refers to, probably cause I'm not sure what the above two refer too >_>

aww, thanks!

- I personally hate twinkies, but the thought of a vampire with a kitchen only stocked with various little debbie snack incarnations was too hilarious to pass up

- Yiron thanks you. He works hard on his smirk.

- That's.... probably because I drew it off a picture of him But, hey, that means I did a pretty good job? Also, it's really weird when you sudden realize that character you've been struggling to draw looks like some celebrity you're cursorily familiar with... Really weird.

- I really should fix that. It's a pretty darn good picture otherwise

- I think I'll probably end up doing a different picture of Axel one of these days. All I can see in this one anymore are the flaws...

- Death has awesome hair. At points it even turns into smoke. Man, I need to start drawing this guy more so I can talk about him. He's made of awesome : /

- I do love Sevrin too. He's a little different here, mostly cause his backstory seriously f*ed him up, but he's ended up one of my faves from the new story I shoved him into

- Thanks. I love Tak's wings too. Man, I really need to do a whole sketchdump on him and the other 6 dragons. They all have different elements and different designs. It's a bit daunting, but it'll be so awesome :3 Besides, Tak's just awesome period

- I do love that pic of Vulture. I really need to do a whole body sketch of him, as he's got visible cyborg modifications that are pretty kick ass (and I'm having trouble actually making myself design)

- I will likely continue drawing Merrick. I need to finish plotting out his story, so dunno when I'll actually start writing him...

- You haven't seen How to Train Your Dragon? You must! It's awesome!

- hmm, not quite sure what you mean, unless it's the strappy part (which is bulging cause it's a little loose) but I may just not be seeing it.

- lol, who are these (henchmen 1&2) referring now?

- I like the way he's holding the mic too. I would also never go to one of his shows. I think Niki would be perfectly fine with that too.

- yup. He's got an age, technically, and will die at some point, but it's more that his body just stopped maturing around 17- hence why it's kind of a sore point.

- thanks! Vishu is pretty stern, and he looks more or less like himself here (sans the tatts of course...)

- lol yeah. Kael drunk... that's a terrifying thought I really should finish it, yes. >_<

- Yup. Oh God, Kael with the Bieber He might actually do it though (for a few minutes) just to get a rise out of someone >_>

- Thanks! I actually like this one a lot now that I look back on it.

- Haha, yeah... though I really am too short here. Kael's like 6'2", but still... I'm pretty sure I'd be taller than that >_>
