Spike's entire circle of family and friends, plus Sunset and Discordβnew friends that only the mane six, not Spike, have madeβenjoying a holiday based on harmony and friendship without him. Yeah, real fucking friendly. I was in high spirits just a few minutes ago.

Meanwhile, the fact that he put off sleep for over 24 hours in Winter Wrap-Up is ignored, and the rest of the cast decide to not do the decent thing by following his example, which would ensure nothing happens that he'll wish he'd been awake for. Instead, they're making warm memories that he'll never be part of.
Spike's always been treated as an equal, not a kid whose goals, values, and concerns are secondary because he's still growing up and wouldn't appreciate times like this as much as the adults would. Besides, you could've drawn him sleeping somewhere in this scene instead of highlighting how unimportant and unwanted he is to the fanbase at large. Regardless of your logic (or perhaps because of it), the precise show-accurate artwork, the cozy lighting, and the heartwarming colors and atmosphere, this pic does nothing for me beyond draining my optimism. Thank goodness there are other MLP artists creating similar images that aren't depressing.

That is a good point to make in terms of criticism. However, it looks like you took it way too seriously. After all, it's just a drawing (a very good one by the way), and it's not supposed to be taken seriously. The artist probably just didn't like Spike, so he just didn't bother. Which makes sense; I wouldn't want to draw a character I don't like either. Or maybe he just didn't like his design, which is understandable. It's not like he was intending to offend other people. The fact that you were however, shows that you have a problem. Because it SHOULDN'T. Now I know your comment was 1 year ago, but some things have to be said. The artist wasn't the one who made you depressed, you were. There's nothing wrong with criticism or sharing your opinions, but don't let a pic on the net get to you. Grow up. If you learned that already, that's great. After all, I'm a year late. Precisely a year late. So Merry Christmas, and a happy new year.
