     "Rivers of destruction swept from the sky. The end of the ancient and noble fractal bulbs was at hand. Long had their once proud race ruled the world reigning with an alien combination of benevolence and emotionless cruelty. They were as farmers to their crops, at first nurturing only to harvest at season's end."

The editor glanced up briefly at the author who appeared to be examining his fingernails, and made a face which would have communicated his utter confusion to the author had that man been looking. Since he was not, the editor attempted to continue. "...the bulb kings, older than the pale moon that waxed above in the fire colored sky raised their mighty --" The editor stopped short and addressed the author sitting in front of him in an exasperated tone, "I'm sorry Steve," he began.
    "Dave," said the author without looking up.
    "Yeah, Dave... " God, who let's these lunatics in here!? "...umm, very interesting." A long pause ensued, then, in that tone of voice reserved for the people one no longer feels the need to conceal one's annoyance from, he asked, "What's a fractal again?"
