I just love your use of colour and design. There are elements of classic illustration in you work, but it also has an up to date feel. I've always loved illustrated books.Β

When you paint do you color the background first or the person? Β and why? o.O

I always start with the person, with skin tone and hair. Then shading... and when the most important things are done i move to the background. Though, during the process i very often go back to the person.

Backgrounds are typically painted first, because you can't very well paint a nice background around a subject. (Imagine trying to paint a delicate background around every individual hair!)
And watercolor won't let you add a light source, you have to use your paper color as your light source. (Or use acrylic, if you're daring enough..)

I love everything about this except the word in the mist. Your lines and colours are so delicate and perfect. This is really well composed. I find the word to not be necessary.

What a cute little mushroom gal! She reminds me of the mushrooms in the Nutcracker part of Fantasia. I think it's neat how her outfit sort of blends into her body. It gives her a mystical, mysterious feel to her. Beautiful streams of water/most as well, and I love that moon!

Love this! The bright red of the mushrooms makes her muted, blueish colours even spookier. I really like how you represented the moon, and I like how the horizontal lines of the mist look next to the vertical lines of the trees.
