This image was re-edited and I replaced the old one with this new one. If you wish to see what the old one looked like go here: lichu.tumblr.com/post/27049056…

The image wasn't blended well enough and it just didn't look real enough. I think it looks a lot better now. Also huge thanks to for helping with blending the image to make it look more fitting. The old image was very 'lame' looking =
We added more shadows, highlights to have Link fit better into the environment and make him look like he's actually fighting Geldman. I hope we succeeded better than before.

::end update::

Here it is!
This is picture #1 from my upcoming project: Zelda Relived (I have a lot of upcoming ideas, and there is more to it than just these). Link VS Geldman. Based off the official art from Zelda: A Link to the Past images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__c…

This was a very painful photoshoot. I was rigged to hold this pose for 3 hours! xD

Check out the promo video if you haven't yet!

Zelda Relived has been an idea of mine for a long time. My goal for the longest time in my Zelda photos was to bring Link and his world of Hyrule to life. I have been doing so since 2003. Recreating scenes, and moments from our beloved Zelda games.

I wanted the opportunity to blend my love for Zelda, Cosplay, and my Studies in Game Design so I created Zelda Relived, something that has never been done before. I wanted take Zelda cosplay to a whole new level.

I have tried to keep this project under wraps tho it seems some aspects may have leaked out. So I am glad to finally release the first picture.

for a split second I tought that Link it was a drawing. Looking at it in more detail and then it hit me. its a real person.
this is a very well done photo edit.
I come short when I say this is incredible to look at.

great job to the cosplayer, I must say there is a slight point off, dont take it the wrong way, but the eyes of link are looking stragight when the monster is to the side.

other than that, again its a very short point off that is not too visable. Overall great job on this.

Wow.
Before I saw this picture, I did not think doing this was possible. I give her 5 stars for everything. Costume, texture, background, and it really looks like Link has come to life and is fighting to save Hyrule. If I were grading this for a project, it would definitely get an A++++. Also, looking at this picture brings back so many memories from when I was little, and I always wanted Link to be real, and fight for crime in the real world, and now, I finally have found the real Link fighting real crime! once again, amazing job, truly awesome work!

This was amazing... you truly took this to the next level. You are an amazing cosplayer, and I thought this was animated at first, but a closer look proved that you were in the picture. You really make Link come to life in a way I never imagined. If I didn't know any better, I would have thought you were fighting Geldman for sure. You're the best cosplayer I've seen so far, and I'm sure there isn't anyone better out there! This is really amazing, and I'm glad you decided to do it. You look just like Link himself. Once again, this is amazing!

First of all, there's a marked improvement over the original submission here. You've done an absolutely fantastic job and it's hard to pick apart anything that could be better, though I will try. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/n/n… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title="Nod"/>

The only thing I can really point out related to the Geldman is that he seems a little too defined. What I mean by this is that the flowing sand on him could look a little more like it's actually sand. The clumps of his body coming off his arms look like they're stuck in that position when really, they should be constantly pouring off his body. Not particularly noticeable but I thought it was worth mentioning.

The only other thing is not a criticism of your costume or the artwork directly, though the angle of your face in the pose doesn't appear to be looking directly at the beast. I mean, I didn't notice it until I looked really hard and it may just be me trying too hard to be constructive but I don't see why that couldn't be touched up a little with a possible future edit! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>

Overall, great work! The few small criticisms I bought up aren't immediately noticeable and definitely don't detract from the piece. It's like you bought the official artwork to life and you did a great job.

Nova Note: I LOVE your costume. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h… " width="15" height="13" alt="" title="Heart"/>

(It's worth mentioning that I submit this critique to the group of deviants as a whole, I know this was a collaboration and I've never seen such a great piece of work come from a collab. :3)

Vision: I can tell what you were trying to go for when it comes to the execution of this. You wanted to create a scene that felt like a Legend of Zelda game and you really pulled that off in a very strong, convincing way.

Originality: Sorry man, but I've gotta knock off points because you heavily referenced official art. I honestly have to say though, that besides that, this is really one of the most original cosplays I've seen, even combining craftwork in the image. Wow!

Technique: An all around fantastic piece, but there's still a few things I find odd. For some reason, the way Link and Geldman contrast just...bugs me. The latter has a little bit of a fakey feel to me, at least compared to the former. I'm also left unimpressed by the photoshop-y effects of Geldman's eyes and Link's sword. (Mostly the former opposed to the latter). I guess my only issues is that this doesn't look natural enough to me. Honestly though, I'm being mostly nitpicky and struggling to find something to actually, you know, critique on.

Impact: I am, more than ever, interested in the art of cosplay. Its really an amazing feat making it "this far". It feels for the most part real, and I am honestly shocked at how SKILLED you people are. This is really a fantastic piece with only a few really minor flaws and quite possibly my favorite piece of cosplay.

This awesome piece of work is really AMAZING!

I totally love the composition. At the beginning I thought it was a draw, but no! This is just amazing! It captures totally the Link of the 2D series of the NES. It captures the entire perspective of the artworks of A Link to the Past and those games. The perspective is amazing. Perfectly done!

I really like the pose and the 3D effects given for the sand monster. That is totally well done! The colors and all are perfect!

It's really realistic! This is really a well done piece of art!

After following the link to the original, you have once again given us your fans, another master piece.

Your patience and keen eye for detail, never ceases to amaze me.
You are are probably one of the most impacting cosplayers, I have ever gotten the chance to preview and critique the work of.

I find this piece very intense but so true to any monster link has ever fought and beat, you truly make this piece come alive.

Thank you.

Your detailed link cosplays are the 2nd reason I became a LOZ cosplayer, and now I cosplay other things as well, always returning to LOZ of course.

Again I am very much in awe of your attention to every single aspect of the original piece and with respect to it in how you fleshed out your wonderious version.

Marvelous work. Absolutely marvelous. The perspective is most intriguing and gives the viewer the impression that the characters are about to jump right out of the page (or, screen, in this case). In comparing the original composition to the updated version, it's amazing how such little details as adding more (dust/sand) particles/effects, as well as shadows and highlights, can really give more depth to a piece, strengthening it overall.

Once again, great work!!

So you've been planning this since idea 2003.
You want to bring all the races, scenes, and moments from Zelda to life.
It's been 8 years, and you only have one picture made.

Girl, you're going to be 50 before you've even made 3.
