Did you follow the link at the bottom of the description? The comic is based on a part of the video. The moment in the video is a callback to the original literal assassin's creed brotherhood trailer - you can go watch that as well.
Otherwise the words imply that the man - a pirate, no less - is drunk, and it doesn't take much to get him drunk (hence low tolerance - for alcohol). It's a not-so-subtle jab at the character, suggesting his incompetence as an assassin.

Egypt. YES. That would be so cool... and they even had a female egyptian assassin (one of the figures below Monterrigioni mansion). East Asia sounds awesome as well... though I wouldn't oppose Russia either. As long as it's a few good centuries before the WWI. There are so many games set in 1900's I'm just so sick of it. I liked AC because it was something different - different than your generic war-themed fps, different than your classical fantasy.
I loved the atmosphere in ACR as well, but I didn't enoy the storyline all that much - and that's my problem with that game. Still, I liked that it was the closest it gets to the original feel yet something entirely different.

ShandianLei In reply to LilayM [2014-01-29 21:53:17 +0000 UTC]
TRUE. I love stuff about events from the REALLY old centuries! xD You know what I mean..
AC4 is fun to play, I like Edward and I love the caribian atmosphere so much more then the setting in AC3, but it's just not the same like in the parts before *Sigh*
ACR - that's a topic. The Desmond thing was kinda weird, okay. Prince SΓΌleymans story was interesting for me, but wasn't... told that good. But I liked the fact, that Ezio searched for the Keys of Altair. To see an Altair, that is more then the 'stubborn and arrogant student' was nice and the moments with Maria were touching.
But we should collect signatures and send it to Ubisoft, that we totally want egypt or east asia! xD
Did you played AC4?

Nope, still haven't gotten to. It doesn't really depend on me - I play with Lynx and when she don't got time, well... then even if I have, I won't play it. Such a pity tho. But nah, we've been playing together since the very first game, so the first play belongs to us both.

I'm totally agree with you!
I didn't like AC3 as much as I love the previous ones. And as you said, I prefer blades, I feel they're more epic, I death by a gun is not so dramatical and full of feels as one made by blade, also the fact one can block or dodge and depends in the abilities of the warrior, I feel there's not honor in fire weapons...
Altough I liked more AC4 than AC3, except multiplayer.
Edward was awesome in personality, tough it hasn not much coherence how they convince him to join assassins, but still was good.
Didn't you play it yet?

Favourite forever and always the original AC. None of the later games had the mood, nor a character I consider as awesome as Altair. ACII is probably the best of the series though, with all the mistakes of the first one fixed and engaging storyline. And let's not forget Ezio Auditore de Young'nhot.
Connor is the miserable one coz his game was ruined, and there was no longer an excuse of being a newbie. His character held much potential but it was spoiled by the plotwriters. They just focused so much on making him oh!so mighty and awesome that he turned out plain over-the-top boring.
So yeah, I wonder in what ways they managed to screw up the ACIV... oh wait I know - by throwing PIRATE in. As much as it is a cool idea, it pretty much defeats the purpose of being an Assassin. I mean, I've never seen a stealthy ninja berserker or anything of the sort.

CoNSu In reply to LilayM [2014-02-17 00:43:12 +0000 UTC]
I'm so happy!!! I think more or less the same.
;v; I'm with you, even if first in playable parts was a little monotonous it was amazing! I love the first more than the others, I was fascinated by Altair, the more I play the more I loved him. Also I liked his spanish voice. So manly!
And I can't complain about Ezio 3 games, I liked them almost as much as the first. Ezio was not my type of char but he has his charm.
And I couldn't be more agree! I didn't felt as happy playing AC3 as I was with the previous. Tough, until now I'm not sure why.
Hahaha I undertand your point, so the next could be vampires.
"stealthy ninja berserker" x'D . To be fair, Edward maintain loyal to his pirate values (what I loved more was he was so different of the others in his motivation), and still you're right, all the game I was asking me how they could become him a part of the order and now I didn't fully get how it was.
For me AC4 was better than AC3. In past plot part. In present plot... it was weird (? I miss Desmond ;n;

I totally agree with what you've said. We learnt enough about American history in school... why not do something more obscure Β or at least less explored in the target age range of consumers.
Also the demand for having a new AC every year sort of wears me out. I mean I could finish a game in time easily but if you eat the same food every day you get sick of it.
π: 0 β©: 1
LilayM In reply to mrSketchy [2013-12-16 20:04:00 +0000 UTC]
Haahhaaa, Americans sure did! xP Try making Assassin's Creed in Poland, dang it XDD Or, better yet - soviet Russia! I know there've been a russian assassin in the franchise, my way - doesn't count!
Yeah, I do agree they could do something less... expected. Asia would be nice.
Exactly. I'm sick n tired of these games, one being exactly like the other... still standing by the opinion ACII was the best overall, and AC I - best mood-wise. ACB kinda disappointed coz it was all the same (I got sick of Rome by the end), ACR was saved just by Yusuf and the beauty of Constantinople, otherwise it was just old shit. And no, I don't care about the bombs.
I liked the changes they made in ACIII - new engine, hunting and all. The story wasn't all so endearing though. We had nothing to fight for. Sure, they gave us villains, gave us random mobs to protect/save, but all in all - it was just plain boring. Connor was... different. Cool, but not all so convincing character-wise. Changed too fast. Too much angst. The angst-for-the-sake-of-angst angst.
Haven't played ACIV yet, but I suspect Edward isn't exactly going to be my favourite. Sure, he's got the badassness right but sometimes less is more. You can't be a true pirate AND a true assassin. And I'm not playing these games if they gonna take the assassin out of assassin's creed.
I'm thinking... maybe it's time they tried something fresh. Maybe introduce a recurring character... like, our apprentice? Then he/she fucks up and we gotta Β save 'em. Make it more personal, I don't know. Too many too similiar characters these days, Β I can't possibly care for all of them.

mrSketchy In reply to LilayM [2013-12-17 01:56:28 +0000 UTC]
or - heres a crazy idea. Have a female protagonist.
I'd like to see them slap the same face on THAT.
But yeah, I think the problem is that the series is too popular
they end up making the same stuff because of the demand for the same stuff.
Apparently the newest game is all about the ships, but it seems strange since that was more of a mini game in AC3
imagine if they made an AC based of say.... the tower defence minigame, or the letter delivery minigame.
yeah, I dont think so.
I recently replayed AC2 to try and figure out what went wrong with the series and why my appeal for it dissipated.
AC2 had a childlike fun, it was immature in a lot of areas and completely self aware about it. It wasn't a parody but it was
damn amusing. Characters reminded me of my best friends and it felt like I could sit down and talk with them.
Over the sequels and especially in AC3, everything just became too serious.
The focus was changed from making characters relateable to making it a scenic tour through history, it reminds me of
Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego but without the fun.
It felt like I was sitting in history class again, but this time it was visual and pretty much every other scene was shoehorning
Connor into every possible remotely historical event that ever occured at that time, to the point that he didn't have a clear
motive for changing sides just for the sake of patriotically jerking off.
I realised I didn't mind Desmond's character in the beginning, when he was confused and victimized. I get that he needs a
character arc but making him the 'chosen one' instead of a single lab rat out of hundreds sorta....bleh.
And writing themselves into a corner to the point where the only option was how AC3 ended felt like a cop out.
All that build up I was expecting to fight the apocalypse, not a short cutscene of two gods having a bitch fit and a borderline
deus ex machina save-the-world ending.
Also another problem with Desmond's character was his face got less and less animated as time went on, to the point where
he had a permanent duck face. Changing him from his own character to a blank slate that the audience could project themselves
upon. I WOULD dig this development if they delved more into the exciting possibilities of the bleeding effect and how he wasΒ
losing himself, but that aspect changed from he's-going-insane to minerva-acting-as-giant-neon-arrows-to-direct-you-because-bad-game-design.
Also the games seem to have forgotten the difference between Assassination (a planned plotted kill with precision) to plain chasing
the same guy over the meadows through the entire story until you just murder him without chance of stealth or planning.
Sigh, sorry for the rant

Well, the ships and pirate life yo-ho is one of the things that puts me off ACIV the most. Especially since this seems to be the pivotal thing, like our homebase or something.
Fuck that! I don't buy semi-stealthy games to friggin barge in with a cannonball. And dang, ships were the thing I honestly HATED in the ACIII. They're big, hard to control, takes real long to make a simple turn... bleh. ASSASSINS, you hear me, Ubisoft?! ASSASSSINS! Read my lips. QUIET. DISCREET. YOU HAVE A FUCKING CREED TO REITERATE THAT. But nooo, let's make them badass killing machines. Like everything else : I Once hidden blade used to mean something, ya know. Then you could shoot everyone with a crossbow and it stopped being fun. Easy is boring >_>
I stopped asking for a female protagonist... Kinda lost hope. They'll do what they'll do. After what they did with Liberation... I haven't played it coz I'd have had to BUY a friggin NEW console. Fuck that, and fuck ubisoft.
Yeah, you might be right with that. Ya know, ACII was only like BOOM! Meet Leo. And ACIII was like "meet this, meet that, and this guy, and this fella, this one is also based on history but no one remembers him...". And they weren't even interesed in our case, we were just a badass soldier. No personal relation or whatsoever.
HAhahah, I hated Desmond from the start, but I'll say that's because I'm oversensitive in that point. Ya know, in AC one could feel he's just a fifth wheel glueing this all together but not really. And yet he was so "important" and whatnot. And still bitching.
And then he supposedly became AWESOME overnight because of playing a hyperrealistic game sitting in a friggin chair. Didn't have to do SHIT besides bitching, moaning and searching his head for magically appearing memories. That's right, he didn't do anything. He just watched a film and became "awesome". See what they did there? Coz only now I do, and that's driving my crazy. I'm a player myself, but I know I'm getting my butt fatter by the day if I lie down and do nothing but play.
Ya know, AC was always just pretending to be stealthy, though the first games didn't turn you into a goddamn killing machine. With the introduction of medicine you could take without restraint it became too easy tho.
Ahahah, yeeah, I'm kinda thinking they're somewhat assuming the player needs to be reminded what goddamn villain they're chasing or what? And when you finally do, it's over like that? I don't get it. Although, ya know, I still dig the whole Connor-Haytham thing, that was the sweetest arc ever imho. Though yeah, painting him as "the baddest of the bad" was kinda overdo. I'd have liked it much better if we only suspected him, and of course knew he was a Templar, but only near the end of the game we'd realize there's no way for both to live.
Hahah, don't apologize, I find coherent rants exceptionally delightful.

haha yeah I can't think of anything else worthwhile to say on the subject, other than the fact that theΒ
Connor-Haytham part of AC3 was brilliant but was ended sloppily like they suddenly realized they had
a game to finish. Haytham suddenly turning around and going FUCK THIS KILL CONNER after all they've
been through was a bit harsh, apparently the script had a more in-depth conversation about Haytham
saying that Assassins and Templars could never work together, that he had already tried when he was
young and naive like Connor.
Would've been more feels if that was explained better 3
