I have seen The Last Unicorn (TLU) more times than I will ever know as I have owned it since I was little, I only know I have watched it A LOT and can adlib the whole movie. I only recently have had a chance to read the novel of which the film was based off of, and I recommend it to all TLU fans, the film does the book justice and even keeps many of the books original dialogue in tact, but the film leaves a lot out, like the prophecy about prince Lir, bits about mommy Fortuna and how Smendrick is a happy drunk, as well as other interesting facts.

This is only my second TLU fanart piece, the first was done with no reference at all but it came out odd and too much to my own style when done entirely off memory, so I took my old VHS cover to school w/me to use as reference, the cover image is a lame re-make image, but the images on the back are screen shots of her laying in the grass and under the moon. I used them to help maintain the unique stylized look of TLU, but I can assure you though that it is all free-hand and does not copy ANY exact pose or scene in the film. I feel confidant that I have kept to the style and feel of the film. This took FOREVER and was done with paint and prisma markers. The shading on the unicorn is actually the reverse side of the paper, I did the shading on the unicorn first, but was disappointed as the colors were too intense so I tossed the paper on the ground as I was upset, and it landed upside down, the shading was perfect on the reverse side! So I continued the drawing on the backside of the paper. I hope you like it ^_^

PS. I have heard rumors that a live action The Last Unicorn is being made!!! I hope its true as I would LOVE to see it!!!!!!!!
