i could not make them physically cup shaped since it would mean more material which means more heavy plus i know of no headband that wide to use as a base, i so made them just slightly curved and used the pens to add the depth.

Makes complete sense to me. *nods* There are very wide headbands, but I doubt someone would want ears mounted on something that obvious. Besides, even if they were cupped I doubt they'd have a look of such marvelous depth to them. = D
